PRESS REVIEWS
“Amazing! One of the Best Scots Rock Debuts of the Year!” Jim Gellatly, XFM Scotland, April 07
“RIESER have created a fantastic, many faceted jewel of an album that refuses to be pigeonholed. With the UK music scene turning into groups from New Rave to Grime it's a fresh approach to take from many pools but create something unique to yourself. This band have the musical armoury and the dedication as their song Rock Star shouts: " I wanna be a rock star". Let's hope a record label gives them their dream.” Rick Fulton, Daily Record, June 07
“While most of their contemporaries are peddling bludgeoning rock/metal, or attempting to be the next Arctic Monkeys, Rieser are just a damn good guitar band with some great songs. And to think Rieser are unsigned. A sad indictment of the times.” 4/5. Pete Whalley, ‘Get Ready To Rock’, June 07
“This is not only an album of good music, it is also an album of hearing people enjoy themselves. If they can manage to produce such quality without any label support imagine what they could do if they ever got signed?" Colin Gazeley, Podcast User Magazine Issue 17, May 07
"The only record with a half decent tune in it since the old days of Max Bygraves & Jimmy Shand......!" Betty Ross (Mike's Nan). March 07
"Really like your stuff. And in Chico Chimbonda you have one of the best drummer names in Scottish music!" Dominik Diamond
"ALREADY mentioned as one of Scotland's best new guitar bands this EP from Edinburgh band Rieser is another leap into the big league. They've got the 'music for girls to dance to' tick of Franz Ferdinand, the musical slap of Radiohead and the faith in their own musical abilities to leave just an acoustic guitar and voice. Time for those A&R men to make you an offer" Rick Fulton, Daily Record 17/06/05
"With a solid local fan base already behind them, the band will no doubt win more admirers with their EP, Live at Big Byte The 4 tracks show a flair for anthemic sweeping rock with choruses fit for stadiums, which belies the fact it was produced for around £25." J. Geddes & M. Johnstone, Impulse Magazine, Issue 4, Summer 2005.
"First up were local boys Rieser - a young 4-piece who have been steadily building a name for themselves on the local circuit for a few years, and now seem to be receiving the radio airplay and high profile support slots that they deserve." Gary Flockhart, Edinburgh Evening News 11/4/05
"The next big hope for our guitar music" Barry Gordon, Sunday Mail.
"Not unlikely to find future success with some stirring melodies" Struan McKenzie, Sunday Mail.
"Armed with a mojo bag full of hook laden tunes, and pumped with hi-NRG, its easy to see Rieser are destined to provide a soundtrack for the worlds sweetest waifs and strays." Barry Gordon, Edinburgh Evening News.
"This is a band who hit all the key criteria for hitting the spot with an audience. They have the tunes, gusto and charisma to suggest they might just make the grade." Gary Flockhart, Edinburgh Evening News.
"Highlight of the night came with The Throwaway Man, a bitter-sweet ballad with the emotional driving force of Oasis Wonderwall or Radioheads Creep." Barry Gordon, Sunday Mail.
