"An ambulance hitting a train hitting an ambulance hitting a train hitting an ambulance"
Rifle Fire Rifle are three young men who play loud rock music with help of drums, bass and guitar.
The band are currently working on their debut album which they plan to release at the end of the year and are continually gigging across cities in the UK!
Like downstroke merchants,
They hammer it out,
They do it fast and
They don't look back!
The Doppler Effect is a 3 track EP, starts off with the title track, that contains soothing guitar and vocals (by Phil Keogh) that is backed up with a driving bass line and steady tempo, that is reminscent of The Fall of Troy and At The Drive In
Twisted guitars bleed, time changes deliver a dynamism similar to And You Will Know Us... but delivered with a post-hardcore twang that is somewhat similar to Jet Plan Landing, with inspired melodica solo...
The Doppler Effect is the group's debut release and as introductions go this is like a warm handshake followed by a quick head butt, it's a memorable, frenzied collection of scattered drums, loud guitars and a gloriously infectious vocal delivery that'll have fans of early Idlewild and At The Drive punching the air in glee
Begininng with jangling guitars which are interrupted by scattershot drums and a bass line that gallops at breakneck speed before hitting the brakes for a quick key change. The poppy hooks are disarmed by the angular guitar lines and muscular pace at which they're delivered. Also the singer doesn't make the mistake of affecting an American accent in order to sound more 'authentic'
Like a cross between 'At The Drive In' and 'Biffy Clyro', this song has many ideas throughout, interwoven into something quite enjoyable. The song isn't over-littered with lyrics, occasionally cutting to a short musical interlude. The vocalist Phil Keogh, stretches and strains his voice pretty much to the limit, not always effectively or tunefully, but full marks for the emotion
With a rocky Foals meets At The Drive In introduction, The Doppler Effect is a potentially exciting song. It's got a great pace, but then turns into a somewhat rawer sound, similar to that of the latterly mentioned At The Drive In
stunning - a killer slice of dislocated buckling and grizzled groove, it seems that Rifle Fire Rifle excel at sculpturing a volatile and fractured melodic landscape primarily riddled with a white hot drilled sparring display of intricately layered hardcore branded post rock / math riffage
The Doppler Effect has a flawless intro, showing off a mix of musical ideas which have been successfully interwoven; proving Rifle Fire Rifle can clearly play their instruments well and create songs with beautiful precision, you can hear that Rifle Fire Rifle have a future in music. With more time Rifle Fire Rifle may shoot to kill.
