"RIGHT BEFORE THE RISE is an aggressive christian hardcore band from Lindsay, Ontario. This hard-hitting 5 piece has been a band since mid 2007, and since played with bands such as For Today, Recon, Continuance, A Plea for Purging, Mychildren Mybride, Thick as Blood, The Miles Between, Deadwalk, Liferuiner, Mother of Mercy, among others. The band first came together to play a battle of the bands, and after they put a few songs together for that they decided to move forward as a band to pursue further shows. As they matured as a band and as individuals their beliefs and values matured also. This was shown in their music, as the band decided to take a more proactive stand on their christian beliefs by incorporating them into their music. While Christianity was always present in undertones, their newer songs released on their "From the Wine-press to the Battlefield" EP, which dropped March 2010, such as "Judas and the Holy Rollers" and "Calvary" professed a strong stand against religion's negative effects on the youth of today. This band believes that Christianity is not contained within a building or an image, rather it is a personal relationship with God first, after which things such as church and prayer follow through love not routine. They call for a passion that they do not see in their churches to be shown by young men and women of God, and to relight the fires that have been doused by "cookie-cutter" Christians. Their newest record drops early November 2010 and contains 4 new songs, and one re-recorded off of their previous EP. This new EP follows the same path as set before, communicating similar strong values in the songs "Revival" and "Lucifer". This band also does something that they never have before which is a chorus singing part at the end of "Floodgates". So it is fair to say that by releasing 15 songs total spanned across 3 CDs in the course of less than three years, with progress and growth evident between CDs that this band is only destined for greater things and endless opportunities. However the aspect which has not been discussed yet is their live performance, which really makes this band stand out. As the only band in their music scene which creates this style of "heavy hardcore" they face difficulties fitting in on local bills. This does not stop them at all however, as instead of fitting in they accept their uniqueness and show a pride and energy through their performance which can only be fueled by the pure passion spoken through their music. Their live performance is moving and filled with emotion, energy, and a range of speeds keeping the onlookers interested and intrigued.
