RightMind is the brainchild of lead and rhythm guitar player Dan Butcher. The seeds of which were planted at an early age as he pounded out Christmas carols on a cheap organ gifted to him by his grandmother. Picking up the guitar in his early teens, he practiced and honed his playing style into what it is today all the while having his sights on original music. Dan’s influences, including “every sound I’ve heard since birth” range from David Gilmour and Jimmy Page to Eric Johnson.
Years passed until, from out of nowhere, drummer extraordinaire Duane (D-Man) Morse fell into the fold. With influences from John Bonnom to Neil Pert Duane’s thunderous chops are the backbone of the groove…..
Duane and Dan struggle for close to a year trying out bass players and never quite finding what they knew this band needed…..a tight rhythm team….and nearly gave up…….enter George Earl.
George, having played in countless cover bands and influenced by the likes of Paul McCartney, Neal Young and Eric Clapton, finally fit the bill. His spot on timing combines with Duane’s awesome chops to create a rock solid rhythm section. Still, one piece of the puzzle eluded the group.
Undaunted, the group continued to hone there style and write song after song. Singers would come and go and there seemed no hope to find the correct singer to bring these tunes to life. Time passed and low and behold as if a gift from above a singer with the perfect sound, range and song-writing abilities for these rhythms arrived and his name is Ron Towe.
Ron, having waited his entire adult life for the right band, influenced by Robert Plant, Ozzy Osborne and Freddie Mercury, knew he found it upon the first rehearsal with the group and within weeks the band was out playing open mic shows and subjecting the audience to some hard edged rock and roll.
RightMinds sound is best described as “full range rock” and the group will go from a sentimental song about love life and children to barn burners, all in one set.
One listen to RightMinds latest demo-CD lets the listener know this band means business so give it a try. You will not be disappointed and don’t be alarmed, the dizziness and diss orientation will pass over time, it’s just been that long since you’ve heard a band this good.
