About me:





Your Rights at Work is a community campaign spearheaded by unions and the ACTU.

2005
The campaign began in earnest in 2005 when the Howard Government revealed, for the first time, the full extent of its proposed workplace changes. The decent system of workplace laws fought for by unions for over a hundred years - fair take home pay, job security, and conditions like leave and penalty rates - are all under unprecedented attack.

2005-2007
There were thousands of supporters handing out Rights at Work How to Votes in marginal seats around the country. Email campaigns, petitions, fundraising to get our message out there and keep the pressure up on all politicians. Forwarding Rights at Work emails to friends and family to give people the facts about the IR laws, and supporting people affected by them. The 180,000 people on the Rights at Work email list did this, for over two years.

2007 Election
On November 24, Australians rejected a political coalition that viciously attacked our rights at work - and we elected a party that promised to protect them. The union and community campaign against WorkChoices made all the difference. Election 2007 showed that politicians mess with our rights at work at their peril.

2008
Our aims are to achieve a decent legal framework restoring our rights, making sure Labor delivers on its promise to scrap WorkChoices and holding to account companies who attack workers' rights. Time to Deliver!

    It took 13 lives to build Eraring Power Station and this is in a country where we supposedly have progressive labour laws? how many lives would it have cost if Eraring Power Station was built under Work Choices?

    I just read your blogg. Its really good, but makes me ask "WHY ONLY YOUTH?"... There has been NO JOBS for experienced and qualified teachers for the last ten years (thanks to Howards Cowards and NSW right wing extremists witholding funds) - But Ms Gillard answers the media's bleatings (about not enough teachers) by saying they will get "top graduates" (non-teachers) into schools.. Why not just provide funds to EMPLOY TEACHERS who have been NEGLECTED and kept unemployed for refusing to teach in church schools? Why is it acceptable to WASTE EXTSTING QUALIFIED and EXPERIENCED PEOPLE and let us rot?.. She also answered my request to buy my educational resources.. by saying they have "no funds" to spend on school resources, and suggested i see a state minister.. Fffft. escalating bullshit and avoidance ~ "the education revolution?" so far its revolting...

    Well.. at least Mr Rudd is indicating the right direction when he recently recalled the Whitlam years. But it disgusts me how the liberals still manage to abuse their authority by blocking everything they can, and continuing threats and bullshit via their constant massmedia push (whinging bastards and sore losers - who can't take defeat without corrupting the game fo reveryone else). Rudd was right. The "financial meltdown" was caused by those scamming bastards who got sacked at the last election. Now - i wonder if Mt Rudd will answer my request for him to buy this educational resource the liberals buried?

    The failure of the federal government to equitably fund education (eg - more teachers per student) is unconstitutional and needs urgent correction.

    The continuation of the previous government's Abotiginal "intervention" is illegal on the grounds of discrinination and humanitarian grounds. So too is the effective privatization of centrelink and other systems which profit from the poor (or rather, the financially or socially disadvantaged).

    COLLECTIVE BARGAINING means A UNION and this should be respected for what it is. "Enterprise Bargaining" was an example of the liberals altering the language and the law and using illegal definitions for illegal laws which urgently need INVALIDATION. They only profited the churches and corpoprations against the majority of individuals and our common human rights.


    AND ANOTHER THING

    I support what was said here by Wake Up Australia.

    Now is the time for invalidating the wrongs of the previous government who clearly abused their authority (or "mandate") with regards to their elected duty to represent, not profit from and disadvantage, the people (the majority - not just their "mates").
