Expressing the complexities of human emotions with a mix of philosophical musings, everyday occurrences and transcendent pop rhythms all his own is what singer/songwriter Rich Jacques does best through Right The Stars, the band name under which he records and performs.
.. Jacques was a founding member and guitarist of Brownie Mary, a group he created in 1993 while in college. Cover songs at the local bar with friends turned into three albums, a record deal with Sire Records and a seven-year career that included a memorable performance at the Star Lake Amphitheater for 15,000 in nearby Pittsburgh, where the band had a strong following.
.. In 2000, Jacques moved to Los Angeles and decided to take a break from music, only to end up right back with what he loves most but in a different form. He became a music teacher, taking on students young and old, one of which was Ben Affleck. Two years later, he returned to the stage with Chantal Kreviazuk, a singer/songwriter with whom he toured and opened for Jason Mraz and appeared in The Tonight Show and the Craig Kilborn Show. Eager to expand his relationship with music, he made the move to production in 2006 and has since collaborated with artists like Kina Grannis, Rob Giles and Joey Fatone in his Hollywood studio, The White Room.
.. Today, Jacques produces music for artists as well as TV and film and is releasing a self-titled album as Right The Stars in October of 2009. The CD includes unpretentious tunes and totally relatable realizations (she could not be anybody different and I could never change the way I am, “Let Go of Her Hand”) as well as heartbreaking personal confessions (and I don’t know the reason but then pleasin’ people’s all I really know, “South Indian Monkey Trap”). His songs range from the deep and intricate “Making Deals with God” to the frustration of a relationship in “Time”, a title featured in the movie The Breakup, and the simple, playful and upbeat “We Got It All”, written for the upcoming Universal Pictures release Couples Retreat.
.. Besides music, Jacques is committed to helping others and in 2006 donated his time to the We Can Pediatric Brain Tumor Network, a support group for families of infants and adolescents with cancer. The songwriter used his talent to help write a song about survival that would help children cope with a new diagnosis and feel hope for the future.
.. With every lyric and every melody a soft-yet-powerful vehicle for ideas of love, loss, hope and resilience, one or more songs of Jacques’ latest album could be the soundtrack of your life, no matter who you are. Reflecting a quest for an understanding of self and others, humble and relevant in a time of national and global change, Right The Stars is an artist and album for the young, the old and, definitely, the now.<br /
