About Adam J. Cohen and the Right Turn Yield Band
Since 2001, Adam Cohen had been on the Orlando rock scene in the UCF area, passive-aggressively pursuing a college education and the one thing that every high schooler with a guitar thinks they’ll find in college: a band.

After forming and fronting Mindflux and Regency Square, he took some time solo, working around the UCF area with an acoustic guitar and a decent sized catalog of songs. In 2003, the roots for Right Turn Yield started to form when Adam was talking with his friend in the UCF Marching Knights, Andrew Gluchov. Andrew was a jack of many trades who could easily learn any instrument he picked up. After Adam sold Andrew one of his old guitars, Andrew started to pick a little on that, writing a few really simple songs that he and Adam lightly worked on.

In the spring of 2004, fed up with being solo for some time, Adam and Andrew split a drum set, which Andrew quickly set to learning. Working with John Rovenski on guitar, Jimmy Nemeh on bass, and Greg Grimaldo on vocals, the group never left the ground, but lightly used the name Right Turn Yield, a moniker that Adam had come up with: “I walk a lot around the area, seeing I have no car. I’d find myself at plenty of street corners, getting ready to cross, and there’d be signs ‘Right turn yield to pedestrians in crosswalk.’ So when the drivers wouldn’t see the signs and would try to cut me off, I’d find myself yelling ‘Right turn yield!’ at them.”

With the dissolve of this group, Adam joined up with another bassist and drummer and was jamming for a while when he ran into a guitarist, vocalist, and Mark Ritchie, who were seeking a bassist and another guitarist. Adam and the bassist joined them and shortly thereafter, Mark and Adam realized they had a great working relationship. A quick call to Andrew, who willingly agreed to learn bass guitar and Right Turn Yield was reborn.

Here is where I, Adam, come in with the bad news. In December of 2004 when Mark had to move from the Orlando area, Andrew and I attempted to find a replacement, but were unable to. With this, Right Turn Yield dissolved and I returned to writing solo music. Andrew got uber-busy and doesn't really have the time for anything anymore, but still makes the time for bad sausage jokes and complaining. Two essentials to what made us mesh. Funny how things are like that, eh?

Currently, Right Turn Yield now refers to the collective of musicians that backs me when I play live shows, when and if I have them. This is a lineup that might vary from time to time, but most recently included Andrew Gluchov as well as an old friend, Rusty Brewer. In all senses of this, its best to consider that this project is dead and gone, sadly. Maybe some other day I'll find folks and the energy for a band project, but that day isn't today.

If you like what you hear, head over to my page at the bottom and keep up with where I am now and where I go, and maybe someday, there'll be life in this old beast...

Peace, Love, and Music,

Adam Cohen
