In the spring of 2001 I entered a mixtape into the Channel[v] DJ Competition, and to my surprise I was selected to play in the state finals at Metropolis Nightclub, warming up for Judge Jules. I went on to win the state title and was flown to Sydney to compete for national supremacy. Unfortunately I was the runner up, but the exposure was all I needed to break onto the uber-competetive Perth scene.
Since then, i've has secured residencies at the Escoba, the Redrock and the Cott Hotel, as well as regular spots at the Beat Suite, Ambar, Destination?, Backbeat, 1AM and various other breaks nights around town.
After a few years of playing around Perth, my lovely and beautiful girlfriend Megan and I, took the initiative to put on our own night and created: Hydrophonik: A blend of tech and electro sounds in breaks and house.
I also run a night called Bootleg with fellow DJ Ben Mac. This night is taking off in Perth and by playing nothing but bootlegs, mash-ups and white labels the vibe is always funky and fun.
More on those gigs as news comes to hand, but for the meantime, i'm busy in the studio, making and mixing my unique brand of hiphop, funk, breaks, and everything in between.
