I've been compared to the likes of John Lennon ( working class hero ), Woodie Guthrie, Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens....I'm not sure who i sound like, I personally think it sounds like a dead end road.
Young St.Louis singer/songwriter Riley James sings with a voice worn by whiskey and late nite wanderings. He brought his hardscrabble, acoustic tunes to the interstate for a live session.

This tattooed troubadour's songs of sin and redemption draw you in and set you right down in the cheap hotels and honky tonks they occupy. Riley claims it's " dead end road " music , but we think he's just getting started. come and hear.

On saturday, march 21st, we found ourselves being baptized in shots of wild turkey to the tunes of unorthodox gospel at Deluxe Bar and Grill by the Reverand Deadeye and Riley James. While the good Reverand may have been the main attraction for the night , it was local singer/songwriter Riley James who kept the congregation in high spirits as he played an array of traditional country and classic rock covers with several of his originals. Rileys songs of traditional misfortune, those typical of love, death, sinning, excess, being poor and a workin' class whore seem a bit surreal at times, like classics recorded years prior by some legendary artist yet never released. His song writing is certainly one of his most prominent strengths, but his ability to perform and capture the audience is another of equal proportion.
