Herself. I don't play the guitar, and don't play the piano well--so I write in a very unorthodox manner, remembering my melodies by recording them. :) I sing and write... c'est moi!
Rin started singing in front of a mirror as a tenacious six-year-old, emulating the likes of Teresa Teng (unsuccessfully), using a rattan hula hoop as a prop. She has developed her voice through various well-known and popular methods, such as Bathroom Singing, Karaoke Powersinging, and Car Singalongs. Kudos also, to her vocal coach of 8-months, Evie Koop, and all the tedious choir warmups. :D
She sings for God, for the sake of singing itself, and because she likes the sound of her own voice. Rin has also tried her hand at songwriting, where a handful of mixed-genre songs have blossomed. If you like what you're reading about her, you'll probably like the sound of her voice. She tries not to try too hard to sound like someone else besides herself.
What does Rin like? Jazz, golden oldies, big band swing, select love ballads, hip hop + R&B (gasp!), Broadway, certain band efforts, and hauntingly ethereal vocals (i.e. Imogen Heap, Regina Spektor).
