Rind Stars is a smart rock n roll band from the complicated American South. Each one of the five members could front their own band, and all would be vastly different. But they don’t. They mine conflict and compromise to create the rich music of Rind Stars.
"This debut from five-piece local rock band Rind Stars is straightforward alt-rock with echoes of alt-country and late-'60s British Invasion. If this versatile band has a sonic signature, it might be harmony (or sometimes just shared) vocals, which suggest power-pop or even country, but the effect is layered over fairly hard, sometimes skronky guitars."- Chris Herrington, Memphis Flyer
"While a lot of bands these days are picking over the corpses of post-punk bands such as Joy Division and Echo & Bunnymen for their '80s alternative sound, the Rind Stars are firmly rooted in the indie noise pop of such Bush I-era bands as the Pixies and Pavement. It's a challenging sound, intentionally lo-fi and jarringly, almost petulantly quirky, as on the mini-epic "the Tick," which goes through no less than five vastly different sections, including a short bridge lifted straight from Led Zeppelin, in less than four minutes."- Mark Jordan, Memphis Commercial Appeal

Saturday, Feb 28th join us at The Hard Rock Cafe on Beale Street for a live music tournament unlike anything: Master of Microphones! 16 artists take the stage!
Most of you Memphis folks know and love our good buddy Don Perry, photographer extraordinaire. Well, next Friday, 2/27, Don will be having a photo show at the Hi-Tone, and we'll be playing. I think the doors will open around 8 and you can come and check out Don's amazing pics, and even buy some of it. Don is doing really great work around town, documenting the music scene and the city of Memphis itself.
As usual, there's no opener. We'll start up around 10-ish, but get there before that so you can enjoy Don's photos without a couple of Fenders squawling in your ears.
The cover is - you guessed it - five bucks. See ya there!
