Bio
The Rip’em Ups are a 1950’s hydrogen bomb stockpile ready to be detonated. Their passion for creating and writing late 50’s rock n roll material is undeniable. This foursome consists of Javier De La Rosa lead vocals/guitar, Rick Coronado original founding member of Lil’ Luis and The Wild Teens on lead guitar, Edgar Villareal double bass extraordinaire, Santos DeLeon former member of Rip Carsons Twilight Trio on the skins, and Marco "Sax Killer" Palos on Tenor. They are sure to give the 50’s rockin scene a fast fueled rut gut punch of furious energy and primordial savage debauchery. Playing mostly originals they throw in a few choice covers convulsing with raw energy just for kicks. These boys are hell bent on bringing you to your knees, and now they have finally joined forces to bring you the best in late 50’s rock n roll savagery. Their aggressive onslaught of pure raw sound will surely make your toes curl and make you wanna flip your girl. *****Viva Las Vegas Review by Kim Kattari The Rip’em Ups did exactly what their name promises. Starting the Viva weekend off with a bang, the Los Angeles-based band got the party started in full force, delivering exactly the type of music that everyone came to hear. This is just the type of band you actually would have heard in the late 1950s, offering a dirty and distorted mix of rock’n’roll and rhythm’n’blues. The lead singer/guitarist Javier De La Rosa entertains the crowd with his energetic performance and falsetto shouts. Rick Coronado lays down the licks on lead guitar, Edgar Villareal slaps away at the upright, and Santos DeLeon holds it down on skins. Really adding to the R&B flavor of their sound and giving the band a Little Richard quality is Marco Palos on tenor sax. The crowd jumped and jived during the set, revving everyone up for Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys.***** ...... ......
