Formed in 1995 after the Skull Boys demise, The Rippers started in L..Arboç (Catalonia, Spain) as a two piece band with brothers Marc Teichenné (Vocals, Guitar) & David Teichenné (Bass, Drums) to quickly record their first 7”. With the addition of Ricky on drums they soon hit the stages, playing with international bands as The New Bomb Turks, Queers or Buzzcocks. The first full lenght, “Evil”, is underachieved. It never really caught the band..s raw live sound. But in 1999 they turned to black. In Xafacaps 7” their sound mutated, it was the Rippers but music was poisoned, leaving fears behind. “No Mört” (2001) remains as a modern punk rock classic, with direct hits to your stomach & primitive driving power, which gained attention & respect from the underground rock media in Spain & some other countries like Germany or the USA. Actually, half part of the bloody painted vinyl version of the record sold abroad.
Later, with the addition of Francesc Marchan on drums & Manel Lucio on guitar, the band became what Marc & David had always dreamed of. Heavier & tightier than ever; apocaliptyc visions, trips over the limit & mind damage led to the conceptual monster known as “Invertebrät”, described on www.ipunkrock.com as “Black, demonic, murderer, sticky, celestial”. Having signed with Rock On, “Nomelêc..s Revenge”, in 2006, took the band to maximum sonic and demented power as the real underground bowed and surrendered to it. Gigs all over Spain are done as they get higher and sicker. Taking a couple tracks from “nomelec..s..” someone releases a bootleg split 7” with Turbonegro. In 2008 they start working on their studio in the catacombs of l..Arboç, where they record the new album, “Seeds of the new dawn”. Released by Rock On in may 2009, shows the band at their top and direct to the bone, but also finding new dynamics and grounds.

Egil Stemkens es conocido por ser el bajista de The Yum Yums, tras unirse a la banda hace unos años y adquiriendo la merecida reputación de ser uno de los bajistas con más talento de toda la escena, como mínimo, europea. Popgun es su proyecto en solitario, con el que ha parido un segundo disco tan espectacular, "Manic Anti-Depressive" (Wild Punk) que no tuvimos otra opción que editarlo. Cocinado con una receta agridulce que mezcla una cucharada de Buzzcocks, otra de Teenage Fanclub, unas gotas de The Kinks, y todo espolvoreado con un toque de… Queens of the Stone Age! Bueno, casi podemos oír vuestras carcajadas con esta surrealista descripción, pero creernos cuando os decimos que es bastante precisa. Alguien dijo que sonaban a "los Lemonheads pasados de speed", y la verdad, no podríamos estar más de acuerdo. Sus canciones te pondrán las pilas un viernes noche, como "Fucked Up" o "Heart (Erratic Beating Of A)", aunque su verdadera belleza reside en su sabia forma de mezclar hits instantáneos con material más oscuro. Los Dandy Warhols matarían por haber escrito "Sting Me".
