Sounds Like
all of the above we guess. Kind of ambient, kind of techno, kind of it's own weird thing, we were never part of any 'scene' we just made the kind of ambient electronic music that we wanted to listen to. Basically, we wanted to be able to play our tracks for friends that weren't necessarily into techno, throw on an Orb track, throw on one of our tracks, throw on some Banco de Gaia, and have people just think that it all sounded great!
Well, we've been kind of on hiatus for a few years, Brian is a new Dad, both work 9-5 jobs, so finding the time to put new tracks together has been, well, almost impossible! But, we figured that hey, let's put some of our tracks up here and see if anyone picks up on it. This is the outline of the bio we used when we were actively looking for a record deal:
Ripple Effect is Brian Roach and Marc Waithe. Friends since high school, both shared a pleasure in unearthing new and interesting music and sounds, not to slavishly follow the cool crowd, but for their own genuine pleasure. For both, finding the intelligent dance music genre was their Holy Grail. Warp Records, Autechre, The Orb, Banco de Gaia, Children of the Bong and others, all seduced the duos imagination and intellect. This, they both realized, is the music of the future, not a fast track ticket to the good life, but a genuine and beautiful new way of expression, a communication for the next millennium. Starting in the late 1990s, Roach & Waithe came to the conclusion that, since they like the same music anyway, they should be making their own! They began putting tracks together in Waithes home studio, and have spent the subsequent years sculpting and refining their music, painstakingly building their sonic vision. The tracks spotlight a diversity of styles and range, creating a unique collection of sounds & rhythms, synthesized into a singular vision.

FUJAKO came out of the clash of Jonathan Uliel Saldanha and Nyko Esterle, two producers obsessed with echo and bass. The first one, raised in Portugal and part of the collectives Soopa and Mécanosphère, deals with sonic alchemy, and is also known as HHY. The second one, raised in France, part of the Radon collective and a rider of the sound waves, is also known as Ripit. Both met to summon music of unlooped hip-hop, filled with spectres of haunting dub and ecstatic scapes.
LANDFORM, their first record (out on Wordsound Digital) was born in a small stone house studio in the burnt forests and mountains of Portugal, between paradise and the gate of hell, made from soundscapes and beats recorded on mostly acoustic instruments, created in an hostile -yet natural- environment. After the initial production phase in the woods, LANDFORM was then haunted by the voices of several guests such as Sensational, Seraphim, Native, Cheravif and Scalper, as well as by the additional trash turntablism of DJ Urine.
