So, my name is Rip, and I do electronic jazz.
See, I come from the old school of electronica (Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis) as well as jazz (Miles, Monk, Montgomery). My records are made out of what's leftover when you collide these two influences together at high velocity. It's definitely heavier and more musical than "light jazz", its a lot more accessible than "modern jazz", it's a lot more organic than "electronica"... but it's definitely electronic jazz.
You can buy tracks from my new album, Rhythm/Pleasure 2, here on MySpace. Or, there are CDs for sale at Amazon.
Salim and I operate Pleasantry Lane Studios, which is the studio of my dreams. We have made musical love with a lot of artists there, most recently the Old 97s, Flat People, and Becky Middleton. There's a full list on the PLS web site.
I also run ProRec, a music recording technology site. Its been in operation since 1998. If you're interested in recording, you should check it out for sure.
