About me:
My name is Rip Torn. I'm an actor. I took up acting as a means to buy a ranch. My real name is Elmore Rual Torn but my father nicknamed me Rip I went to college to study animal husbandry at Texas A & M and the University of Texas. I hitchiked to Hollywood and tried to become a star. I made my film debut with a small part in Baby Doll in 1956. Then I moved to New York to study under Lee Strasberg at the Actor's Studio. I was also on Omnibus, Playhouse 90, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I have had a pair of Cable Ace Awards, three Emmy nominations, and one Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a comedy series. I made my feature film directorial debut with the critically panned The Telephone in 1987. And thats it I guess.
