I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4‘Rise’ are a highly experienced young duo. Performing regularly in venues across London, Rise have been earning a living as musicians since graduating from university in 2005.
Rich was born in March 1981 and began learning the piano at the age of 9 and achieved grade 8 at the age of 16. His style is influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis, jools Holland and Billy Joel.
Dave the youngest of the two, was born in November 1983 and began learning guitar at the age of 12. Influenced by the mid nineties indie rock revival; Dave’s voice and guitar playing was nurtured to the sounds of Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller.
Rise members Dave O’Callaghan and Rich Coulson met in their home town of Kenilworth; Warwickshire in 1998 at a school talent show. They began performing locally in bars around Kenilworth, Leamington and Coventry before moving to London to study Music at University in 2002. It was in London where ‘Rise’ found their niche; entertaining audiences in pubs and clubs and honing their performance skills with every gig. Funding their way through university by playing live in bars and clubs; ‘Rise’ consequently built up a formidable cv.
Rise secured two residencies in separate O’Neill’s pubs in London (Ealing and Carnaby Street) and another bar in South Kensington (The Drayton Arms) which they maintained for well over a year. As well as these residencies ‘Rise’ performed in many other bars and also performed at many private parties and corporate events.
Having established many contacts whilst performing at the 'Blue Balls Festival 2004' in Switzerland, Rise now perform three to four times per year in Switzerland at separate corporate parties, private parties and pub gigs.
