The audio track playing is the opening to COLDWYND SANDS . . . this story was written and produced by RBW creative writing workshop participants. The audio track in full has been donated to local hospital radio for broadcasting and the local talking newspaper for the blind for their library and will be broadcast by the Prison Radio Association later this year on their national network. COLDWYND SANDS was launched on 26th January 2009 at the Main Library in Market Street Stafford. See Our Pictures Albums to view this event in pictures.

2008 CAMPAIGN: A POET LAUREATE FOR ALL COUNTIES AND CITIES.
Did you know in Britain 25 areas already have a Poet Laureate for their city or county? Usually these two year posts are funded by applications to Arts Council England. According to one poetry publishing house there are over 44,000 active poets in the UK currently on their database. Does this mean all the other 150 or so regions are missing out on poetry promotion to schools, libraries and touring workshops? If the government's stated aim is for children to be exposed to 'culture' what better way than for all places to recruit a Poet Laureate to promote the creativity of the written word in all its forms?
Now more about us . . . RBW is interested in all forms of Creative Writing produced by the Over 50s and senior citizens - we love short stories - novels - poems - factual articles - memories about social history.
Older people carry a great wealth of the fabric of 'true' social history locked in their collective memory - if they don't share these memories and pass them on, much of the truth of our times will be lost.
PLEASE NOTE: RBW only accept new friends who have Open Profiles and who are are genuinely interested in the art form of creative writing...

The 2005 project was Old Time Music Hall in the 1930s. The resulting book TALES FROM THE GAIETY was jam packed with stories/articles/graphics which showcased the talents of the group. Comedy was a new field for everyone.
Some of our writers are absolute beginners while others are published novelists/playwrights, award winning poets and retired journalists.
The 2007 Creative Writing Workshops Tour (15-20 workshops) recorded a slice of social history i.e. Home Front Memories. The 2007/08 workshops were led by a popular local author and university lecturer. A community workshop based anthology: STAFFORD REMEMBERS: the 1940s and early 1950s featuring pictures and memories of local residents was published in March 2008 (Awards For All).

I just handed off my new book to my first pre-reader. I've still got about 2 months of editing to do, but it's time to get some feedback on the story. I've begun line editing and if all goes well with this first read, I may be ahead of schedule for my October release!
