The foundation for Rising Regina was laid long before Jess, Kiki, and Rich took to the stage under the name. The three used to play together in a contemporary worship band. Time passed on, but their passion to for music never weaned. The three went on to live their lives, having children, going to school, all the while gathering life experiences.
A chance encounter has brought the three together again, under the name Rising Regina, the experiences, and disappointments of their lives showing through in the lyrics of their remarkably poignant songs.
Their sound is as different as the three individuals who create them, soft and subtle one moment, boisterous and powerful the next. Their abounding creativity and haunting harmonies have been captivating small audiences and bar rooms around the area. These crowds quickly learn what the band’s friends have heard since those simple days on the stage of that church.
Jess and Kiki grew up in rural Pennsylvania, their father a Methodist minister. Through their childhood, they were exposed to a wide array of musical genres. They grew up listening to the likes of The Mama's and the Papa's, Oasis, The Beatles, Billie Holliday, The Clarks, and Nickel Creek. All the while picking up pieces to the puzzle that is their musical style. Upon graduation, Kiki went on the road to all the corners of this country, finding inspiration among friends as well as total strangers. Her lyrics speak of the past pains and jubilations that have made her as unique an individual as she is. Jess remained local starting a young family and caring for her two daughters. She finds inspiration everyday in the eyes of her children. Her song Wildflower speaks of her delicate strength, and her quiet resolve; the blessings, and frustrations that come with being a single mother.
Rich, went on to higher education. He received formal musical training from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Music Education Department. A tragic injury some time back caused him to seriously look at his musical career. Where most would have quit, Rich attacked his music with a new found voracity. Rich has done and seen it all, his knowledge of music displayed in his extremely technical vocals and guitar solos. Rich has performed the National Anthem prior to Penguins’ games, and he has performed vocals to the likes of Bon Jovi, Rascal Flats, and Bette Midler (yes, Bette Midler). However, no matter how busy, Rich never misses a Karaoke night with his friends.
They will continue to grow in life as well as their music. The band you hear today will not be the same band tomorrow. These three have dedicated their lives to music thus far, and one cannot expect them to turn off their musical desire or the desire to expand their sound. It has its moments of conflict, like any true friendship. However, it is that deep-rooted friendship, and trust in each other, that make this band Rising Regina.

You guys were ROBBED at the Battle of the Bands! I was there in theory to support another band, but I have to say that if actual criteria were involved in the judging and not just psychotic screaming teeny bopper fans, you guys should have taken the whole thing. In fact, you are too good for such a contest. I can't wait to hear the full album. You are awesome!
