Influences
The world we live in. Those that have stayed true to themselves and remained loyal to the voice inside. All artists with a relevent message and the courage to march on when no one else is around. All artists who maintain originality in a world where its all been seen and done before. Those that have the wisdom to see what is invisible, and to dance with it.

Rising Sun began as a spiritual and musical journey by Joe Graves long before it had a name in January 2007. Sensing that something was missing from his life, and after much soul searching, found that the only constant in his life was music. It had been there in the good times as well as the bad. This epiphany prompted Graves to drop out of Film school to develop his craft as a songwriter and thus a seed was planted. It wasn't long before Graves ran across an interesting ad placed by Tim Land, A dark character with a brilliant mind. The two decided to meet and saw the potential to manisfest their very similar musical vision and taste into something tangible. After course of just a few months, Joe reconnected with old friend Mike Silvestri, who had since last contact, traded in his boxing gloves for a bass guitar. Silvestri, a natural musician effortlessly embraced his new role, and landed the right notes as surgically as he had landed hits in the ring. With a social concious and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, he proved to be a comfortable fit into the evolution of Rising Sun. Throughout this time of defining the sound that was to become Rising Suns niche', there were many drummers that kept the time, but when Jimmy Lacoume showed up with his kit and vibrant personality, it was with the force of a moving train. With a versatile drummer with a golden ear and a soulful sensibilties, there was no question that this was the line-up. Now with a tight framework to the melodies and groove it became time to push full ahead were able to take their act to the people with confidence. Because of the tremendous amount of buzz the band had gained from a 2-song EP containing acoustic versions of "DaisyChain" and the single "My Mistakes", the band played their very first show as headliners to a packed house. The band had gained instant notoriety as being original, yet familiar, and has gone on to perform as such places as New Orleans famous Tipitina's club, and the lengendary Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood.
Rising Sun's music takes a mainstream rock formulated approach to capturing the feeling of the great music that inspired them, as well as capturing the eerie vibe of the city that spawned them. With song's like "White Light", "Something to get by on", and "My Mistakes", Rising Sun has written a collection of singles and are poised to leave an impression on anyone that listens in, including a very confused and out-of-touch music industry. Rising Sun will continue to take the road less travelled in order to bring across their soulful and rhythmic melodies through an honest and genuine connection.
