Ritmo 3 was born in the spring of 2005 on the patios of house parties in Austin Texas.
Four young men originally from Mexico began the project by arranging musical
compositions of traditional son montuno, boleros, Colombian and Mexican cumbia.
Lead by Josseph Durán, the band’s concept was to create a musical fusion with the
influence of three main countries: Mexico, Cuba, and United States.In the following year the band began performing their first shows in local restaurants
and cultural events around town. In 2007, Ritmo 3 became regulars in the music scene
performing at famous Austin live music restaurant-bars, attracting people with their
young and energetic groove. By 2008, Ritmo 3 was performing at well known local bars
and nightclubs, playing for people with a love for Latin music and dance.Throughout these years, Ritmo 3 expanded and began combining traditional Latin
music and contemporary urban compositions. Influenced by Cuban timba artists, they
began to integrate diverse and complex Latin rhythmic patterns into the arrangements,
creating a unique sound based on a timba concept.Today Ritmo 3 is composed of nine musicians with diverse cultural and musical
backgrounds. The band continues the original philosophy, creating musical fusions
between Latin rhythms and sounds from around the world, inviting everyone to be part
of the experience and their music.
