THE CONCEPT BEHIND RITUAL ABUSE
In an age when a consumerist economy severs the world into the needy and the greedy, and 'death' is the only word on the tongues of modern media, it would seem unlikely that the name 'Ritual Abuse' could excite much controversy. You would be surprised! To a desensitized world, it still manages to shock and sicken those who have heard these words before.
The name ‘Ritual Abuse’ serves its extreme metal purpose: it conjures unwanted imagery of heinous crimes against children, of bodies carved with signs of diabolical invocation. However, we often forget a kind of abuse that we inflict upon ourselves.
‘We make slaves of ourselves, tangled in a web of domestic rituals. We all have our daily rituals, we wake up, go to a dull workplace and are constantly shelled out of our emotions, ideas and dreams. We return home only to worship at the altar of the TV God, kneeling before the set in another stupid ritual of spiritual submission. And we do this day after day, month after month, year after year.’
The lyrics of Ritual Abuse are escapist and cataclysmic, being heavily themed on carnality, self-abuse and domination. However there is also a subtle political statement in the wording. Yet we shall leave you to divulge the mysteries en littera for yourselves.

Ritual Abuse was conceived in the thought of resurrecting ‘solid old school values’ from the glowing embers of the thrash scene. The present line-up boasts Pete and Dan on guitars, Matt on bass, Andy on drums and band founder Richard on vocals, and they bring together a lurid mix of death, black, grind and heavy metal to add the body to their skeleton of traditional thrash.
Hell's fires have been kept well stoked by the band hailing from London. Dedicated to a brutal live intensity and with fresh material, they are prepared to unleash themselves on the world and are constantly looking for bigger and better feats.
“Think about who you are and what you want to achieve… And if you are not who you want to be, or doing what you want to be doing, then do something about it. Don't just sit there, content in your life's rituals. Get up slave, abuse them!”
