We really loved Canadian Customs and Fat Pocket. There was some great original rock and dance/funk going on that stage. We liked several of the other bands as well, but these two really stood out. Hope it keeps going. We only heard about it through some friends of ours from Cape. You should consider spreading the word to other markets. Hope to be back next year.

but if it was anything like the music that was there on Friday night
then the place was ROCKING!!!
Bruce Zimmerman and Mike Rennick
were both terrific (as usual) - and Ken E. Keller as the bassist (for
both Zimmerman and Rennick) was perhaps the single best artist of the
Festival. Keller plays the bass as if it were a lead and acoustic
guitar at the same time. He is a tremendous talent. These are performers worth the price of admission by themselves.
This was the first time I had seen Fat Pocket, and boy do they really know how to close a show. Their medley of funk and fire really had the crowd revved up for more. I plan on seeing more of them.
The best original rock was from Canadian Customs - and they really know how to bring it!!! Too bad they don't get around here more often because they are on their way up and it would be good to have a Cape connection to keep them coming here.
All the acts I saw were pretty good, but the ones mentioned above were, in this old roadie's opinion, the best of the Fest.

I am pleased to inform you that River City Music Fest is returning
to CAPE GIRARDEAU this year!!! Check out the blog note regarding this year's line-up at http://www.myspace.com/rivercitymusicfestival
For all who might care to know this, BRUCE ZIMMERMAN and MIKE RENICK are as
classy and talented as they come. They are worth the trip to downtown
Cape by themselves - and when you add in other great bands such as
ROCKFACE BARBAND and BIGGEST CAR IN THE COUNTY, its a journey you have
to take if you enjoy live music. I am still hoping they add DRIVIN'
RAIN to the bill.
But if you want to see the faces and sound of
rock for the next generation, then you have got to see CANADIAN CUSTOMS
perform!!! I first saw them a year ago, and have seen to a couple of
times since then when they have been through southeast Missouri. One of
the most amazing things about them is of the 3 times I have seen them,
they don't play the same set list (unlike most of the "local" bands) -
but the music is always GREAT. Some friends of mine are coming in from
St. Louis just to see these guys - and it will be well worth the trip.
I only hope they are playing a time when my gang can get there - I did
not see any schedules announced regarding playing times.
If you are in or near southeast Missouri (including southern Illinois) you should come to Cape for this FREE MUSIC FESTIVAL!!!

We always have a great time when we come to Cape Girardeau (a/k/a "The Cape") and look forward to doing so again.
