Influences
God, Family, Children, Love, Faith, Hope & Justice. These are the things that have and will always influence me the most. Music is such an intergal part of everthing we do and experiance in the relatively short amount of time we have on this earth. I know for certain that the music from the multitude of artists I have listened to over the years has become a part of me. I hope what I have learned from them will continue on in my songs to influence others as they travel through this world. I hope at the end of my days, through the gift of music, that I had been a blessing to someone else.
Sounds Like
Through the years I have been told I sound like many of the artists that have influenced me and my style of song & lyric. Each time I am approached with 'who I sound like' I take it as a sincere compliment. Who would mind being compared to the likes of a John Denver or say, Paul Simon? Certainly not me! I simply love to sing and to entertain folks...if I can bring just one person a little peace through one of my songs or a song from another artist than I've accomplished something worth while and worth doing...that's why I've been performing now for over thirty years!
Dan Rivers started playing the acoustic guitar at age nine and began writing songs a few years later. Dan made his first studio recording at twelve years old in Bloomington, Indiana. Dan has never stopped writing and performing even during his tour of duty in the United States Marine Corp. Dan has literally performed his way around the world delighting audiencies with his special brand of song & lyrics.
In January 2003 Dan wrote his most profound & requested song to date...'One Flag, One Heart, One Nation' This song was birthed just a few months away from going into Iraq. This song was posted on a companies web site ( along with a jingle Dan wrote for this companies product ) and has found it's way around the world.
Dan plans to be very busy in 2007 and looks forward to meeting each and everyone of you at one of his shows. Dan is doing something different this coming year and that is to go completely wireless! This will add a whole new dimension to a Dan Rivers performance...one you won't want to miss!
