We're still devastated that our main singer, songwriter and keyboard player David Kent sadly passed away on October 18th 2007, after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer. As well being a highly gifted musician and writer, David was a respected and successful music lawyer with Seddons, and his passing shocked and saddened many colleagues and clients in the music industry who knew him well, along with his many friends and family - wife Marilyn, daughter Charlotte, and stepchildren Darren and Stacey. Their loss is ours, and we'll always remember "Little Dave" with love and affection, especially for his humour, talent - and of course the farting jokes.
The band was formed in 1975 by the two Daves - Dave Kent and drummer Dave Stark, along with Richard Rangeley (lead guitar), Martin Coslett (guitar/vocals) and John Pooley (bass), who moved to the USA and was replaced by our pal Vince Lewis.
We played a handful of gigs in the mid-70's and recorded a bunch of tracks at Guildford University, and later at Virtual Earth in Swiss Cottage and other studios. Although DS and DK both went into the music business, we never got ourselves a deal for whatever reason (too busy!), so these tracks were on the shelf until DS reformed the band in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of our gig at the old Marquee Club in July 1976 (see below). Oh yes, the name came about as Richard played an Epiphone Riviera which occasionally did feed back.

On July 9th 1976 we played at the old Marquee Club in Wardour Street on the night that Eddie & the Hot Rods recorded their Top 10 live EP. The place was steaming in one of the hottest siummers on record, but even DS's mum came down. According to later reports, the Hot Rods wanted a 'safe' support act as their previous one had smashed up all their gear - some dodgy new outfit by the name of the Sex Pistols! Fast forward 30 years, and we found ourselves back in the rehearsal studio trying to remember all the old chords and lyrics. It was a lot of fun re-visiting DK's songs, which always deserved to have a wider audience.
Our two reunion gigs - at the Battersea Barge on November 5th and the Songlink Xmas party at Corks Wine Bar on December 14th 2006 - went really well, see clips. Our special guest singer Estelle Kokot sang lead vocals on 'Never Be The Same' and 'Live For Today' and also bv's. It was also great to have Martin Coslett join us for an impromptu closer of his reggae tune 'Dog On The Loose.' Before the gig we went into Mill Hill Studios to put down a proper version of Never Be The Same plus a few of the other oldies. Stay tuned for news about an eventul tribute to DK.
We are playing next Wednesday (21st) at the Hard Rock Cafe in London (check out the details in our calendar!) doors 8pm, on at 8.30pm. Would love to see you there! This is going to be a huge gig, with lots of industry type bods in suits and dark shades coming down, so we need your support!!
