"The Rizdales may be tough to pigeonhole, but they're easy to enjoy. Moving at times from Buck Owens-influenced 50's country to roots rock and back with ease, The Rizdales prove once again that Americana doesn't have to come from America."
Clint Weathers-Freight Train Boogie, Santa Rosa, California

RIZDALES REVIEWED:
" The Rizdales have always been a favorite of mine since the first time they came to Austin and sat in with me and my band at Ginny's Little Longhorn. Now that Radio Country is available, I know they'll become a favorite of yours too." - DALE WATSON, Austin, Texas
"a cheatin’ country classic"
- NOW MAGAZINE, Toronto, Ontario
"My favourite band" - CAROLYN MARK, Victoria, BC
"The Rizdales score a goal with top-notch songs of heartache and hope all to a background of well delivered honky-tonk music as smooth as Crown Royal!" – BRIAN HOFELDT, THE DERAILERS, Austin, Texas
" The quintet features the killer harmonies of the husband-wife team of Tara and Tom Dunphy, who naturally deliver catchy duets like “Here I Go” and “High Heeled Homewrecker,” a couple of great new tunes that continue mapping out the territory of the honky-tonk heart." - ARTVOICE, Buffalo, New York
” Instant jukebox classics like “Baby Isn’t Mine” and “I Could Tell You Lies” ensure that Radio Country is a must-have for country music fans." - EXCLAIM MAGAZINE, Toronto, Ontario
"Comparisons to Patsy Cline and Hank Williams are well deserved, but the Rizdales manage to infuse their honky-tonk sound with an infectious energy that's fresh, modern and fun. The album has a definite old-school feel, but in this case nostalgia is a good thing" - ARTSCAPE, London, Ontario
"Husband/wife duo Tom and Tara Dunphy pen poisoned valentines to each other with subtle wit and the kind of rich character writing that the genre has always excelled at." - KITCHENER-WATERLOO RECORD, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
ABOUT RADIO COUNTRY:
Tara and Tom Dunphy of the Rizdales are a happily married couple, really they are, but you'd never know it from the heartbreaking stories of addiction, infidelity, loss, and longing they've penned for their latest release, Radio Country.
Formed in London, Ontario, the Rizdales have been performing their highly infectious brand of roots rock infused country to enthusiastic crowds since early 2003. Their latest release shows us why the folks keep coming back for more. On Radio Country, released late, 2007, the band once again takes us on a wondrous journey from barroom to bedroom to courtroom. How is it that these musical snapshots of relationships gone bad can make us feel so damn good?
Tom and Tara’s voices couldn’t be any less alike, each one unique and conveying such brutal honesty, as though they've lived each and every line of the sad songs they sing. Together, their voices meld to create the beautiful
and distinct harmonies that truly define the Rizdales sound.
On Radio Country you’ll also hear Tom on guitar and Tara on fiddle, along with Rob Clarke on bass, Mark Duff on drums and Brad ‘Shyboy’ Keogan on electric guitar.
On this outing, the band invited pals Jerry Fletcher (pedal steel guitar) and Michael ‘Slipnote’ Bonnell (piano, accordion) along to join in on the fun.
So crack open a cold one, put your feet up, and remember, this ain’t country radio folks … this is RADIO COUNTRY.
Hey Rizdales, I've got a radio show for a few weeks - so, please tune into the Paul Hughes Show (filling in for Gordon Hotchkiss) on Celtic Music Radio this Wednesday between 7pm – 9pm UK time. As well a Scottish, Irish and American folk/roots music I’ll be chatting with Paddy Callaghan about being selected for the finals of the BBC Young Trad Musician of the Year and hear him playing the harp and box. Celtic Music Radio is available in and around Glasgow on 1530 AM (MW) and you can listen anywhere else in the world on the internet at www.celticmusicradio.net and click on “Listen Live” in the top right of the screen. Thanks for reading down this far.
LOST COLT FRIENDs OF THE MONTH: August - "The Rizdales", "Ninety Pounds of Ugly" and the "Elmdale House Tavern" are all coming together on August the 15th for an alt-contry extravaganza ! Steve, the drummer in the Rizdales, used to play with Rick in the London [Ont] bands, Adam West and Lot 49. The Rizdales put on an authentic, old time, Saturday night, country show and Ninety Pounds of Ugly features the gorgeous and talented Patsy Clash with the, maybe not so gorgeous, but, truly talented, Lefty McRighty. And if you've never been to the Elmdale Tavern and you have some 'old country bones' in your body, treat yourself to a night at the place, 'cause it will feel like going home.
Great show at the Dakota Saturday night! It really took me back to the music my dad used to play on his stereo and I still listen to today. I hope to see you guys back in Toronto again soon!
