    12 songs of restlessness, aggression, thoughtfulness, silliness/ All songs written and performed by Robert James There are two, decades-old, rustic water towers that pierce the Texas sky south of Corpus Christi. Their frames are wooden and frail. Below, the dismissed hunk of rusted vehicles, tires and crumbling structures give view to a horizon of deterioration, stagnation. Sixty years ago Petronila, TX was a thriving community but the unfortunate close proximity to coastal city Corpus Christi diminished any hopes of growth or prosperity. This is no suburb, no sprawling community. There are lonely crop fields that stretch for acres. Vacant roads that twist and bend lead you past abandoned homes, cotton mills, and creeks littered with the corpses of dead pets. The passage of time has sentenced this small community into obscurity. The nearest music store is half an hour away located in a shopping mall. Teenagers are still being fed by the modern rock stations in the city. They dispense the usual Clear Channel play lists with expected doses of rock nostalgia. There is a silence here. A sort of slow disconnect from an advancing world. Robert James is 21 years old. He lives at home with his parents. His bedroom is adorned with magazine clippings of rock stars, pop stars and famous movie scenes. A familiar poster of Johnny Cash giving the finger is stapled to a crudely painted gray wall. There are several cheap guitars on stands, amps and records cluttered around the room. 'Plain Pug' is as lo-fi and raw as can be. Twelve songs that display the sort of aggression, angst and passion that could only have come from a kid sentenced to the doldrum existence of rural life.
