Robert D. Johnson is my name, but I respond to "Bob". I play pool nearly every night. My name is common, so if you see my name somewhere (like AZ Billiards) it might be someone else. I finished 65th in the US Amateur Championship in November 2004. In the APA, I am a skill 7 in 8 ball and skill 8 in 9 ball. (I was briefly a skill 9.) I am constantly trying to improve since I started taking the game more seriously in the fall of 1997. (That was the year I quit 20 years of smoking cigarettes -- nicotine patches and pool helped me forget them.)
I hope to cut down on my APA league stuff and to cut down on my beer intake. I want to focus more on improving my pool by practice and better competition.
I am an experienced computer programmer, which helps pay the bills and stuff. One cat lives with me.
My son (born in 1986) finshed up his 2nd college education at the New England Institute of Art in Boston in May 2009. I got him a fancy, new Nissan Altima in the Fall of 2007. Lucky kid.

Other odd notes about me
It takes me around 45 seconds to solve a 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube. I own a 7x7x7 cube which I have solved dozens of times, plus numerous other cubes. The largest I have solved was 31x31x31 (displayed on a computer). I can solve the 3x3x3 blindfolded now (although not fast enough for competitions) and I hope to improve this ability. On May 5, 2008 Yu Nakajima solved the Rubik's Cube with an official World Record of 8.72 seconds. In the finals he tied this record again. Here is a video of that 2nd 8.72.
