About me:

I co-authored the fifth edition (2006) of the Rough Guide to Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei; I covered Kuala Lumpur plus the interior and east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. I'd be happy to hear from anyone with questions about visiting the country, though of course the best way to find out about travelling in Malaysia is to buy our book - parts of it are extensively revamped compared to the previous edition. The 6th edition (Sept 2009), which I'm currently co-writing, is further revamped and sees me taking on the Singapore chapter as well.

The Rough Guide to Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei is on sale internationally and available here from Amazon UK.

Occasional Malaysia travel info updates and corrections will be posted here in my blog.

In addition to authoring this book, I work as a book editor, magazine subeditor (particularly for New Scientist) and proofreader. Side projects include occasional music articles, radio packages and photography.

Who I'd like to meet:

Any bands desperate enough to employ a so-so guitarist (who can also do backing vocals) - I invoke the old "enthusiasm is more important than ability" clause. A wide range of music is fine; just don't sound anything like Arctic Monkeys or Coldplay. :)

It would also be great to meet new mates to wander around London with, whether that be hanging out in Brick Lane, strolling through Hyde Park or going to gigs in Camden.

    Will & Mike had another gig with Miserable Rich at the ICA so couldn't get there in time for our set unfortunately. Hope you still enjoyed it, thanks for coming down.

    thanks richard! honesty was actully on my mixtape on an entirely sincere note - i do actually really like the song!

    But yes, a rare public appearance of Paul "Booby" Tooby is certainly a thing to be cherished...
