THAT'S EXACTLY who I meant. Damn, that name takes me back. Your name is hella familiar too, but not in a way that makes me have flashbacks to my lunch money getting stolen.

Am I broke, you ask? Let's just say I make Russia look financially stable, but it's worth it. Film is a passion. You know this: we didn't choose it, it chose us. But, I have to say, the biggest blow thus far was when I lost out to Dominica Totty to write the Christmas play in 4th grade. Remember, the one where you came out dressed like an elf and said, "Want a candy cane? (hold for laughter and applause)." It's been really hard to get my footing after that career misstep, and I only have Mrs. Baker to blame.

Hey so I went to my first Blake Snyder writer's group... it's pretty cool and I think I'll join; everyone signs up and then when it's your week everyone goes around critiquing your script and you can't say anything!! Have you ever joined one? Also after wanting to "up the stakes" for awhile, and reading "save the cat" I think the sales manager who hires Ted should be his Dad - what do you think? It would be pretty easy to write in, and it automatically makes Ted a more determined character because he's trying to prove himself, and who can't relate to trying to prove something to a parent? Plus it makes the opening job interview that much more dramatic and awkward.
Plus that brings in the single mom issue, he didn't have a male role model, then at the end when Ted finds him living with some internet floozie half his age it REALLY ups the stakes!!

Shouldn't you be spending time with your family instead of messing around on myspace?

Actually that's funny you thought he was for the lead.. but no, he's for the Semi-responsible part of co-worker Mike Silberman, who goes a little nuts by the end.. The lead is uncast, but hey five (out of eight) principles is pretty good..

Yes the super 8 day, while not monumental is good to remember, I'm just glad I've documented so much - I always thought at the time I wasn't doing enough, but it's handy now to reflect on...

Check out bryancallen. com - he's a possible for the ladies' man of Roger Royal..

Hiking stories never get old.. as long as you don't saw your own arm off to survive!

    autobiographical..? from when???
    that's funny though.

Yes, that John Ross, as you can already see, is in suit and tie anyway.. he's pretty funny.
The producer? Well, he would love if we had some funds, but I feel I'm doing all I can, after all, luck is just the result of planning and preparation so... what more can I do?
  • Mar 8 2008 5:11 PM

House of NanKing was awesome last night.. keturah and her husb. in town we all (chris and chrissy sell, Erik rawlins' wife, brian raley and his fiance') met and had a great dinner, then walked to cafe trieste afterwards, thought of you in your little rent-controlled-willits-owned bungalow what seems like ten years ago...

John ross is pretty set for one of the parts, his website is his name... he's funny... pieces are coming together, budget with digital looks to be about $130K, for film about $160K.... we'll see..

Howdy Dody Tooty Fruity. I was driving through Chico today looking at all the almond trees in full bloom and I thought of your comment about there being snow in Queens and thought you should know. Hope your spring is as much New York as mine is California! :)

Dude I just got a (quick) email back from Larry Gallagher - he played a doctor for a few episodes on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and is a local guy.. trying to get him for the CEO of Arrow Pens. Found two pretty good MAJOR locations also!! Keep late July open!!
  • Feb 22 2008 8:48 PM

Correct, and the current president of the Capital Film Arts Alliance has now become part of "Nehst" productions, you have to fill out a couple proprietary-legal docs and then get to submit. I will get to "La Gara" as I can..ps check my latest blog, it's for a friend visiting SF but you may appreciate it too...

Yo. My "finished" script somehow made it up to 121 pages, so much for a 90-minute comedy. Also Larry Meistrich has moved into Sacramento (Sling Blade, You Can Count on Me, etc...) with "reportedly" funds intact for 250 features or some crazy number.. The AFM is in Santa Monica in November - and I NEED TO BE THERE WITH A FINISHED FILM!!!

Hey Stranger! How's life at the other end of the country? BTW I love this profile pic. :)
  • Feb 1 2008 6:16 AM

154 Pages!!??! It's starting out pretty good, I just want to know who your target audience is??!
  • Jan 31 2008 2:20 AM

Didn't see the short yet, yes I did get the "Ass-race" script and am starting to get into it. Definitely interesting to see how different people put together scenes and how they get through them. I met with a potential DP last night, and that went really well, he's got friends who pretty much have everything, lighting, grip truck, even small cranes.. should be pretty sweet. Meeting with the producer next to iron out budget... maybe $150K ? or so?? But the bigger challenge is to get a couple at least B-list'ers to get attached to it.
  • Jan 30 2008 6:33 AM

What a Dill you are !!! Scott and Chris both really wanted to see you too... but being sick iis no fun either. Well I hope "confessions" is done now, I added an 'at gunpoint' standoff towards the end and a harmless kidnapping (which pretty conveniently drags Sally along!), so i'm up to 116 pages... crazy. I met with a potential DP today, and I think we're on the same page, and better yet he has lots of contacts in the area, ie.. grip truck, lighting, sound, etc.. A low budget of his was picked up last year by Lions'Gate so he knows a little of that side too.. What I really need is at least one or two 'B-List' Actors to get attached to it, otherwise it will be a tough road I fear, when it comes time to sell it. Let me know if you know of any, or any friends of friends to check with...

    until then

    A
