About me: ..
Musical Bio Dave “K” Just got off the road after a year and a half with Smokin Joe Kubek and Bnois King
***********************************************************
Dave K was born in 1956 in Oceanside, New York and started playing drums at the age of 10 in a marching band. A drum set came after that and lessons soon after that. He studied for years with renowned jazz/rock drummer, Charles Perry. Dave started his professional career at the age of 17. This included playing Top 40 and album rock in the Long Island and New York City club scene in 2 different popular bands. At the age of 21 he moved to San Diego in a quest for better weather, waves and women.
************************************************************
In the early 80s he landed a gig with a top Bluegrass/Country Band called the “Constables”. They played all over San Diego and the western states for close to 3 years. After that Dave took a break to raise a family and start a construction business. His drum set was always nearby and he played enough to keep the spark alive. As his children got older and his business more successful, he started honing his chops and began to play out again.
************************************************************
A deep, life long love of blues drew him to the local jam scene and soon after a series of gigs with local bands. He has played with the “Blues In The Schools” program for the San Diego Blues Society. Dave is usually out 2-4 times a week making music. You will be hard pressed to find some one with more energy than Dave K. He has a very strait forward approach to blues drumming. “Find the pocket and live there” he says.

Hi. I haven’t heard from you in a while and thought I’d check in. I hope you’re having a fun summer. I’ve been getting my second novel ready for publication next winter. In the meantime, Rock & Roll Homicide was released in e-book and Kindle formats a couple of weeks ago, for less than the price of a paperback. Anyone with a computer can download the e-book in a big, easy-to-read font. To take a look, go to www.rjmcdonnell.com/e-book_kindle.htm. Let me know how your summer is going when you get a chance. - RJ
I’m writing to update you on three new developments. First, Rock & Roll Homicide is now available at Barnes & Noble. Second, last Thursday the cover art was featured on the top mystery blog, Poe’s Deadly Daughters, for the Anthony Awards nominating committee to review. The next day, my novel was the lead on mystery site, Baker Street Clarion. I put a link to both sites on my Media page. To take a look click here. Keep in touch.
Just wanted to let you know that San Diego’s “MyWeek in Music Magazine,” ran an article on my book in the Hot Off the Press section of their August issue, which was released this morning. To take a look click on www. myweekmagazine. com/hotp. php. Also, I just included a summary of “Rock & Roll Homicide,” in my blog here on MySpace. Drop me an email or comment if you check it out…RJ
