Road takes on the timely topic of environmental contamination through the fictional story of Margaret and Jay, (Catherine Kellner and Ebon Moss-Bachrach), ex-lovers on an ill-fated journey to photograph environmental clean-up sites throughout USA and Canada. Catherine and Ebon were jointly awarded the Jury Prize for Outstanding Performance, at the 2005 Los Angeles Film Festival.
The film also won the Best Original Score Award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival for music written by Chris Brokaw, formerly of the rock bands Come and Codeine. (More info at chrisbrokaw.com.)
Road opens at Facets Cinematheque in Chicago November 17-23. See screenings for more details.
Writer/Director Leslie McCleave's previous award-winning short films include Sundance Film Festival Best Short Film Award -- "Avenue X" (also won SXSW, Golden Gate Award San Francisco Int'l Film Festival, Prix Aaton Locarno Int'l Film Festival, screened in Panorama div --Berlin Int'l Film Festival, New Directors New Films MOMA New York), "Blixa Bargeld Stole My Cowboy Boots" -- starring the Sopranos Michael Imperioli (Best Short Film Athens Film Festival, Philadelphia Film Fest award, screened Sundance Film Festival, SXSW+) and "Meeting Marty" first short produced in association w/ Sundance Channel.
