Road To Roubaix-The Movie's Blurbs |
About me:
Road to Roubaix is a feature-length documentary film concerning the most difficult and prestigious one-day cycling race in the world: Paris-Roubaix. First held in 1896 and now in its 105th edition, the race is a grueling contest over 160 miles of narrow, cobbled farm roads in the Picardie and Norde-Pas-de-Calais regions of France with a finish in the historic Roubaix velodrome. Long known as the “Hell of the North”, Paris-Roubaix is a breathtaking visual spectacle of rival teams and riders. Some 180 riders from 20 teams will participate in the race.
David Deal is the cofounder of MasterLink films and an award-winning commercial photographer based in Washington, D.C. David is a lifelong cycling addict. At 19, he led a cross-country bicycle trip from Oregon to Delaware with 10 of his high school friends. Among the many highlights of the trip was watching Greg Lemond win the Tour de France on the final day of the race from a bar in rural Iowa after convincing the patrons to switch the channel from the NASCAR broadcast.
Dave Cooper is cofounder of Masterlink Films and an AWARD-WINNING GRAPHIC DESIGNER and PHOTOGRAPHER. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and two children. In his spare time—which is in short supply—he rides his Surly Pacer or Big Dummy Xtracycle on any route that passes a decent coffee shop. He's anxious to go back to Belgium and France.
Kathryn Hempel, Editor/Partner at CUTTERS, has been recognized with
several awards, including an Effie Award, Telly Awards, and a New York Festival Medal. She also directed and edited the documentary, "Ox-Bow," which was screened at the New York Int'l Independent Film & Video Festival.
Paul O'Brien is an independent composer based in London. His score for Road To Roubaix evokes emotion, and accurately reveals the race for what it is—a human struggle from start to finish. The thoughtful music also sets the film apart in the genre making it more than a film about cycling. It is a true documentary that outgrows the confines of being "just another cycling film."
