I love my family. Love my wife, love my kids. Love doing stuff with my wife, love doing stuff with my kids.
I am passionate about theology, history, philosophy, and apologetics. I play guitar and enjoy reading, and love movies; especially the oldies.
A good drive, a good walk along the Maumee River or Lake Erie, a good book on your lap, and a good cup of coffee just about does it.
Special mention must go to John Michael Talbot, Keith Green and Rich Mullins: three artists that have displayed the heart of God in their work.
Also, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Third Day, Reliant K, Newsboys, Todd Agnew...
...but Bach, Handel, and Mozart will also do just fine.
Oh ya, I also like Bob Dylan and James Taylor.
The Christian classics such as Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, and Jesus of Nazareth.
Frank Capra's works such as Meet John Doe, You Can't Take it With You, It's a Wonderful Life, It Happened One Night, Mr Deeds Goes to Town, and Mr Smith Goes To Washington.
Hitchcock's works (Sabetour, The Man Who Knew to Much, Vertigo, Shadow of a Doubt) especially the oldies such as 39 Steps, and The Lady Vanishes.
Come on now, you gotta love The Thin Man Series.
I enjoy reading theology, history, politics and historical fiction. I can also get into fantasy work by Tolkien and CS Lewis.
Scott Hahn's books have meant a lot to me, especially "Lamb's Supper".
Pope John Paul, Ronald Reagan, Winston Churchill, Saint Augustine, Saint Ignatius, Saint Patrick, Saint Therese of Lisieux, and my wife Leona (one dedicated Mama).
Special mention must go to the Blessed Virgin Mary who said yes.
A little of my story...
I grew up in a Hungarian home. I don't know what that means, but what I do know is that you eat a lot and argue about everything. My wife is a German. I know, but hey, I love the girl. We have been married for over 30 years and we have 3 great kids.
My parents escaped from Hungary after the Hungarian Revolution in '56. My Dad and Mom (who was 3 months pregnant with me), left their home only wearing the clothes on their backs. She would always tell the story: that after they had escaped to Austria, they were asked where they would want to go from there. She replied, that as a child she learned about a country that was free.
Raised as a Roman Catholic, I wasn't serious about my faith until Jr High when I picked up a copy of "Good News for Modern Man", a modern translation of the New Testament. I started reading it. I began reading it everyday, over and over again.
During this time I came to faith in Christ. I can't give you a day, time or hour - it just happened. I began to pray. I confessed my sins. I purposed to live for Him however imperfectly, but yet I knew He had my life.
Then came the moment that I surrendered everything to Christ as my Lord. During the summer before 9th grade, my younger brother was drowning when our family spent the day at the lake. It was a surreal moment. My parents were on shore totally unaware of what was going on. He was calling out to me to save him. I was not the best swimmer in the world, I was not a good swimmer at all. As I made my way to him I prayed, “Lord, if you let me save my brother I will give you everything!” I got to him just after he gave up and went under. I found out that he had accidentally went into deeper water while looking for his lost face mask. As I walked to shore with my brother clinging to me I thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if my foot would hit that mask and both would be saved?” The lake was murky that day and you couldn’t see bottom, but you guessed it: my foot hit the mask.
I made good on my promise and dedicated myself to the study of Scripture and being active in sharing the Gospel with others. But instead of staying within the Catholic Church, I had Christian friends in school that attended a non-denominational church. Thus begun my spiritual journey. I attended a Pentecostal college, became a United Methodist youth pastor, got into Reformed theology and I even became a member of a Baptist church. After reading a biography about Martin Luther, I was drawn to the Church and it's historical beginnings. This journey led me to become an Anglican priest.
But I hungered for more. I wanted to avoid at all costs my starting point. But it wasn't to be: God wouldn't let it go. Over and over again He brought me back to full circle, back to the Catholic church.
So now I see myself as a Catholic advocate: to love, care for and defend the Catholic faith, but also care for the whole Body of Christ. I am committed in fostering love and understanding between Catholics, Protestants and other non-Catholic Christians. Knowing that we are one in Body in Christ, we also know that we can learn from each other, and work together to glorify our Lord in building a Culture of Life.

I would love to get together every Tuesday and have a cup of coffee with CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien and just talk about "stuff".
To accompany Saint Patrick on his missionary journey through Ireland and be part of his team would be an unbelievable adventure. To be with him as he comes back to the land of his captivity preaching the Gospel of freedom and light to a place of darkness. To see the power of Christ in new lives and His enemies defeated. To suffer persecution with him. To build churches and centers of learning that will train the future tutors of Europe.
To be along side Saint Benedict as he transforms the monasteries of Europe that became centers of learning, care for the poor and sick, and the foundation of Western Civilization.
How about standing next to Ronald Reagan in Berlin when he challenged Gorby to "tear down this wall!"
Have the Apostle John give the complete scoop on the book of Revelation.
To stand with Saint Augustine and feel his pain as he hears the news about the sack of Rome, and then see him work through his faith realizing the change in the world that was "Rome".
To see the conversion of Saint Ignatius Loyola completed as he experiences the vision of the Blessed Virgin with the Holy Child Jesus. To see this man that was filled with dreams of grandeur on the battlefield to humble himself before the Lord of glory to become a servant of the Church and a major force in the Counter-Reformation.
Going through England's darkest hour in World War ll and hearing Churchill's words, " never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
A man I deeply admire and a major influence for me and my return to the Catholic Church. Imagine setting in the prison cell with John Paul forgiving his would be assassin.
Mary Magdalen at the feet of Jesus; a good place to be.
To meet the one who said yes.

Happy are those

The dark comes
like a blanket
hugging us at night
The moon shines
like the heart of God
providing gentle light
The stars call forth
our sparkling dreams
like waves upon the shores
To greet the night time
pilgrim as we journey
through sleep's door
What’s meant to be
will always find a way
…pleasant dreams…
my dear friend…

'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where --' said Alice.
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.
'--so long as I get somewhere,' Alice added as an explanation.
