The oven was cracked and the Roaster lid carefully lifted. We cried and rejoiced and then cried some more. We had a moment of silent intimacy and circle basted her as she roused from her slow-cooking Roasterie. She was indeed ripe and faultlessly conceived for the grand feast. We dined on her humid, meaty offerings late into the night. As the sun rose we patted ourselves on the back for a job well done.
