Sounds Like
... absolutely nothing you've ever heard before, or will again.
Twenty-nine year old singer, songwriter and guitarist, based in Glasgow's leafy West End, dabbler in the arcane arts of bass playing, drumming and Pro Tools recording. Likes writing about himself in the third person, because it makes him feel more important than he actually is.
Is currently frontman and ego-in-chief of balls-to-the-wall powerpop trio THE CHINASKIS, who from summer 2009 onwards will be playing as many dive bars and insulting as many girls as possible. Also plays bass and sing BVs for PULSE , another phenomenal Glasgow alt.rock band, and currently having a blast on bass, guitar, backing vocals, spoons and Stella tops with TUCKER AND THE SCATTERED FAMILY, the brainchild of my dear friend Andy in Edinburgh. Would tentatively suggest, as a consequence, that he loves playing music, in all its shapes and forms.
Is fortunate enough to have met, often played with and shared immeasurably exciting experiences - musical and boozeical - with such talented acts as The Dead Beat Club, Cartoon Coffee, Hugh McKay, Dochan MacMillan, Roy Henderson, The Endrick Brothers, The Retrofrets, Laura Healy, The Fortunate Sons, The Last National Band, Roddy Hart and a bunch of other people who I (sorry, "he") was simply too drunk to remember.
Also has the dubious honour of having played with such B-list notaries (read: "on the same bill as, with no human contact") as Deacon Blue, Nerina Pallot, Midge Ure, Finley Quaye... and various other musicians who he wouldn't normally give the steam off his shite to, but likes to namedrop nonetheless.
Outside his alter-ego as Kiss-loving boozy rock monster, also loves playing tennis, squash, hillwalking, watching and making films, going to gigs, drinking strong continental lager, Scotand, playing PS3, using bad chat-up lines, texting on the toilet and superimposing photos of his friends' faces on top of pornographic images.
Has met Peter Buck. Twice. And nearly cried both times.
Is getting sick of writing in third person, so will end with impassioned personal plea.... thanks for visiting the site, and for reading this far if you've managed it. Check out the tunes, leave me a message, spread the word, and please take some time to listen to the amazing music that my other "top friends" have produced - it's fantastic.
And remember, as my granny used to say; you can only piss with the cock that you've got.
Thought I'd let you know about our Bob Dylan night in Glasgow this month. We're exploring the roots of Dylan's music in Scottish and Irish folk songs and have assembled a 6 piece band and have various performers coming along to give their own interpretations of some classic Bob Dylan songs. It should be a fun night!
If you fancy having a listen to some of recordings or to find out more information about the event get in touch through myspace!
I thought about joining the Glasgow songwriter's club, but decided against since I don't write songs, and i'm not from Glasgow. You heading for Leith on friday, my errant brother?
