About me:
I work as an Architectural Technologist in Portadown although I enjoy it can't say that it’s were my life begins and ends... far from it.
My main hobby in life is playing the guitar from the age of about 6 I watched as my dad strummed out old tunes by Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles and even some Irish Folk that inspired me to play the guitar.
At the age of about 12 I started to play bass and even went to the very odd lesson or two but after playing for a year or two I got bored with it and wanted something a little more of a challenge. So after a year or so of playing bass in church I progressed onto the electric guitar I now had two more strings to master and those really difficult chords like F to deal with this was great.
The first album I ever owned was Appetite for Destruction by Guns N Roses this was the beginning of my guitar influences (a pretty good start I’m thinking) shortly followed by all of Metallica’s albums whose tab books soon became my learning material.
The F chord was soon becoming less of a challenge and I was going on to try and master other stuff basically trying to shred as many notes a second as possible. But sooner or later this started to loose its soul and I have been trying to come back to just playing stuff that sounds good rather than playing stuff that is overly complicated although having said that I still hit my fair share of bum notes.
I now play in a band called Reedstar which is a modern Christian Rock band with classic rock influences check out www.myspace.com/reedstarband for details.
I have also had the privilege of playing with Johnny Parks, Ian Hanna, Tim Huges and many others on the Christian circuit God has really blessed me and to Him I am eternally grateful.
