The lyrics and melodies that characterized The Robbie Gennet Band were crafted by pianist/vocalist Robbie Gennet, the 1995 and 1996 Florida Jammy award winner for Best Keyboardist, as well as XS Magazines 1995 Best Male Vocalist by Readers choice. In the Spring of 1994, the band recorded the Harum Scarum EP, six songs that explored the bands high energy sound on songs like "Not the Way", "Crazyboy", and the all-out rocker "Clear". On the CD version, there is a hidden bonus piano track that nicely foreshadows Robbies "Pianarchy" CD. Harum Scarum was nominated for a 1995 Best Independent Release at the Jammy Awards, and the band was awarded the Best New Band Jammy! Locally, the ultrahip XS Magazine voted the RGB Best Rock and Roll Band (Readers Choice). In the Spring of 1995, the band returned to the studio under a spec deal to begin recording THE DREAM, featuring 4 songs redone from Harum Scarum, plus 9 new songs fresh from Robbies demos & the stage including "Wrong", "Rhymes", "The Dark", and the eventual title track "The Dream". The 1996 Jammy Awards came, and Robbie nabbed Best Keyboardist for the second year in a row. The band performed in Central Florida, featuring even newer tunes like "Corduroy" and "Freak Flag". In December 1997, Robbie releases the long-awaited, full-length CD "The Dream", by The Robbie Gennet Band. This 13-song album was over 2 years in the making, and a document of one of South Floridas award-winning bands. Clocking in at almost 50 minutes, the record captures the bands best songs, as well as their unique sound. Robbies pounding grand piano duels with the flamboyant guitar work of Groovey, anchored by the smoking rhythm section of Debbie Duke and Eric Larriviere. This was and is a product of love, of hardship & friendship, and a testimony to survival.
hey Robbie....spent last hour listening to the record. So, I thought I'd drop by and say you still rock my world. Hope to catch up soon...much love from Florida
