Robbie Schaefer’s Mom Thinks He’s Really Great—In case you haven’t spoken with her lately, Robbie Schaefer is the guitarist and songwriter for the acclaimed independent folk/rock band Eddie From Ohio. Although the indie model has become increasingly common in the music industry, Eddie From Ohio actually helped pave the way, building a fan base through relentless touring and grassroots marketing beginning in 1991. Having created a large and loyal following across the U.S. and Canada, the band has also released 9 CDs, selling upwards of 150,000 copies, all on their own Virginia Soul Records.
In recent years Robbie has also turned his musical attention toward solo projects, (releasing In The Flesh, a live solo album, in 2003), composing and recording the theme song for the theatrical production Gulf View Drive (by New York playwright Arlene Hutton), which premiered at the Actor’s Co-Op in Hollywood, CA in 2006, and releasing his first cd for kids and families, Songs For Kids Like Us on Rocket Pop Records in 2006. The success of Songs For Kids Like Us led to a wealth of opportunities for Robbie, culminating in his arrival as Music Director at XMKiDS on XM Satellite Radio. His show, “Robbie Schaefer’s Stuck In A Real Tall Tree”, airs Monday-Thursday 7pmEST/4pmPST and Saturday 10amEST/7amPST .
A new solo studio album is planned for release in late 2008 with John Jennings (Mary-Chapin Carpenter, John Gorka, Catie Curtis) producing. Robbie’s Mom is currently clearing space on her cd rack for the multiple copies she plans to buy.
Lastly, Robbie Schaefer’s Mom would like you to know that his favorite color is red, his favorite food is sushi, he’s really into yoga and all that woo-woo spiritual stuff, has excellent hygiene, and an affinity for olives and espresso that borders on the abnormal. Oh, and he just adores it when she yells “I love you Robbie” at his shows.
I'm one of the brave souls who hung out with you after a planned NYC concert became a private acoustic show. You made a select few fans very happy that night.
The more I listen to Evergreen, the more I love it. I'm very much looking forward to the new album. I hope the weird experience didn't put you off the Big Apple for good. We need more Robbie (and EFO) around these here parts.
Great show last night! I loved your set, and the end bit with Ellis was wonderful. I'll never hear Simon and Garfunkel's America quite the same way ever again, but it was worth it! I was thrilled to hear that Ellis will be part of Leon on your next CD-I love that song, and I think Ellis will be a great contributor to it. Next to Leon, my clear favorite, I think my next favorite song of the night was your song about the Jesus sculpture in Monroe, Ohio. If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the song, and might it make an appearance on your next CD? (And I strongly hope it will!)
The CONCERT FOR HOPE & AWARENESS returns to Pittsburgh!
Please join us for the 2nd annual Concert for Hope & Awareness, an evening filled with great acoustic music from a group of incredibly talented national and local singer-songwriters, all brought together to raise awareness about ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and to benefit our friend Eric Lowen.
The concert begins at 5:30 at ELIXIR Ultralounge, 15th & East Carson Street on Pittsburgh's South Side. This year's line up includes a special appearance from Darden Smith who released the hit "Loving Arms". Also perfoming for the 2nd year in a row is Dan Navarro of Lowen & Navarro, and Pittsburgh's own Brad Yoder. And, we are pleased to include two new very talented local singer-songwriters, John Vento and Stephen Christopher.
Friends of ours flew up from Jacksonville for it too (HUGE fans)!
You probably don't remember, but we brought Jen to the Birchmere last January for her Bachelorette and she kissed your head(LoL) and shared her pink feather boa!
so i had to tell you a funny....today my son (almost a year old) and i (age unknown) were listening to "sally, can i walk you home," and i was singing "it's only 3 more BLOCKS" and he crawled over to his building blocks and handed one to me. priceless.....your kid's cd freakin' rules. thanks for a great laugh this afternoon.
I saw you and the rest of EFO at Falcon Ridge this past weekend and you were all spot on (except when Julie's mic didn't work for the first part of the first song you guys played). When are we going to get some new music?
P.S. Seeing the Sign Language Interpreter signing your kids song about the Carp in the Tub was priceless.
Hey Robbie! Keep up the good work! Love the new tunes! My Wife and I have been into you and EFO since '02 and have been hooked ever since! Heck, our daughter "saw" you in utero when you played "Capo's" in Lowell, MA in '04! Keep on Folkin'!
Hey Robbie... I realize you don't know me from a hole in the wall (actually, see that one to your right... no, a little lower... not that one... too low... there! That one... That's me. *giggle*) Anyway... I used to live in Massachusetts (Tennessee now) and I've been to see you perform with EFO SEVERAL times! It was always an awesome awesome show! You guys simply are amazing... I was so happy to see tour dates on your site again... That must mean Julie's doing a bit better. I haven't been able to find out much, though... Anyway, I was so bummed I'd be missing your show at the Summerville Theatre up in Massachusetts a couple of weeks ago! When you guys play there, it's such a fun time. I've been to 3 of your shows there. My favorite song to hear performed was always "Old Dominion"... *prepare for an ego stroking* I just absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your vocals in particular on that song!!! Ok, ok... to be honest, especially the part where you go really really low/deep with your voice. Do you realize that I could feel the rumble of your voice in the floor each time??? I absolutely LOVE it!!! Actually, the last time I saw you guys there (for This Is Me), you all did a Meet & Greet after the show. I got to tell you personally that I love your deep voice... You said something to me in a real deep voice, and I have no CLUE what you said... but I loved it just the same!! Thanks for humoring me... and send lots of love to Mike, Eddie, and Julie and all your families for me. I really hope I get to see you guys sometime soon. (*real subtle hint there... but in case ya didn't get it... venture out towards Tennessee sometime soon... Nashville area would be fantastic!!! Alabama could work, too... Kentucky, even... =) Hehe...)
