Hey friend,
I was born at a very early age. I've been playing music since the early 60's and have graduated to fingerstyle guitar. My musical influences are diverse, from Bert Jansch to Davy Graham, Doyle Dykes to James Taylor, John Renbourn to Leo Kottke. I gig round South London at any venue that will have me. Done a few at the Fox 'n' Firkin in Lewisham for 2 Bob Carl, a few festivals like Malcfest. I've recorded a CD with Mal at Orange and Blue studio and currently host Open Mike nights at the Good Companions, Hamsey Green and the Jolly Farmers, Purley. I enjoy watching young musicians mature and improve, and I thoroughly enjoy playing with others, whatever genre they are into.
Guitars I've had: starting with the first in Rhodesia which was a lump of tree wood wiv a handle on one end called an EMI. Next was a Bellini, South African, and pretty cheap but nice action. Then I acquired an Aria classical, which after a year or two, traded in for a Yamaha FG 200. I kept thatone for about 20 years, by which time the tone had mellowed to perfection. However, I needed to be semi electric by this time, so the church band with whom I was playing bought me a Takamine EN 20, the big Jumbo, which according to Takamine's website, does not exist. I still like to play that as the tone is warm and familiar, but just recently I bought a Maton EMJ747 WalnutJumbo http://www.messiah.it/eng/maton/macoustic/EMJ747.html. For the first time in my life I have a choice of guitars, and tones. The Maton is crisp and clear and I love playing it. I expect that I shall buy others in time, and when money allows me to do so.
