If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Considered the leader of the 19th Century Composer group "The Mighty Handful," I am indeed the teacher among them. My orchestration skills are superbly colorful, and are explained in my book on the topic, but works like "Scheherezade" explain my mastery better.
Interesting Trivia: For years Rob lived and breathed Baritone Saxophone and he's had the opportunity to play with the likes of Tito Puente, Louis Bellson, Slide Hampton, Red Rodney, Clark Terry, Denis DiBlasio, James Moody, Lou Marini, Ed Partyka, Al Hood, Tito Carrillo and quite a few others along the way. One of these days he's going to break out the big horn again...
Composer/conductor Rob Deemer (b.1970) first came to national attention in 1993 when he was named the College Winner of the Down Beat Magazine Student Music Award for “Best Extended Composition”. He has received commissions by artists such as trombonists Mark Fisher, harpists Delaine Fedson and Megan Metheny, trumpeter Christopher Carrillo, violist Aurélien Pétillot and saxophonist David Box. His music has been received recognitions by BMI, Down Beat Magazine, Voices of Change, the Austin Civic Orchestra, the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra and Manhattan Beach Music.

In 2006, Deemer began a new project outside of his compositional activities with the creation of a new radio show that focuses on living composers and their music. Entitled "The Composer Next Door" and originating out of KCSC-FM on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK, this program takes an “American Tour” approach with each show exploring the composers who live in a specific city, state or region in the United States. The program has already been awarded an grant through the Kirkpatrick Foundation and has had over 100 world-class composers donate their music. Listen to it on the web at www.kcscfm.com.
Deemer holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition from the University of Texas, a Master of Music in Composition as well as a Performers Certificate in Conducting from Northern Illinois University and an Advanced Certificate in Scoring for Film and Television from the University of Southern California.
