Sounds Like
A baritone with an attitude backed by musical wizards.
The Rob Dickenson Band is a duo, trio, quartet or quintet. Our style is an experiment in diversity. In our years of performing, we have played with Reverend Gary Davis, Kris Kristofferson, Sam and Dave, Dave Bromberg, Lowell George, Pearls Before Swine, George Thorogood, Dave Van Ronk, Jorma Kaukonen and many more. The band performs the music of songwriter/poet, Rob Dickenson. He has been called a curiosity, radical, preacher man, fool with a whim and of course, dude. This band has a world of experience combined with energy, humor and talent. In 2008, they will release a new CD called "Remembrance" of Rob's songs and a children's Christmas CD called "A Child's Brandywine Christmas". Rob is also publishing a full book of radical poetry called "Diary of Doses". The band is currently seeking modern day hippies, people who read, born again skeptics and other bastions of individualtiy who want to hear a new voice in this world of endless similarity. Give us a listen.
.."Remembrance" by the Rob Dickenson Band is a western folk album that draws on many different influences. You'll hear various southern styles as well as hints of gypsy, psychedelic and traditional Irish. With such a wide range of stylistic attributes, the final product is certainly unique in its own right. Above all, these songs are simply entertaining. The lyrics are creative, poetic, and flowing. Additionally, the musicianship is superior and the arrangements are unique and are all dedicated to the task at hand. Standout tracks include "Frolic," with its bouncy beat and Irish-flair. This one’s a foot-stomper for sure. "Jesus I'm a Poor Man Too" features inspiring lyrics and some nice harmony in the chorus. "Say On And On" has a haunting quality, with delicate piano and intimate vocals. Fans of Woody Guthrie will appreciate this wonderfully polished folk collection. ..-William and the RadioIndy. com Reviewer Team Check out Rob DIckenson's music on RadioIndy. com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
Hi Rob - thanks for accepting the friend request. I'm pretty sure we have some folks in common. (i.e.: steve smith, EB, etc.) Anyhow, really enjoy your tunes and the family still fondly remembers "Life After Elvis" - hope that makes sense.
Rob----Thanks for adding me as a friend. I hope to see you on the UMGF as well. I'm price7204 over there and my inbox is always open! I sure like your picking and your writing and I'll be ordering your "Rememberance" CD. I hope you are having a great day. DP.
Yay !!! RD and red wine tonight. Okay. I can do that. And if I drink too much I can just crawl home. Wouldn't even take that long you know ? See you layta !
Okay fine. I'm going to do it. I'm leaving another comment. So maybe we'll come see you in Media tonight or maybe Christiana tomorrow. Would really work better for me if you just played in West Chester every night (or so) so when I had a whim to go see a band, there you were ! See you soon.
You're going to need to get more comments now that we're friends here. Otherwise, I'll look like that one crazy person that everyone has that leaves way too many comments. Hope to see you all again soon.
RD - Great time last night. Thank you immeasurably. Love the new songs. Jesus I'm a Poor Man Too - way to let your Messiah complex freak flag fly!!! BB
