Hiya I'm Rob Dowling AKA Dingo born and bred in sheffield I've been in a number of band's over the year's altough nowaday's i just write on my own as a hobby to kill a bit of time I got into music in the mid 70s and was in band's from around 78 up till the late 80s & early 90sI used to go and watch local band's and thier were a few good one's around at the time (THE PUSH,THE EXTRA'S,2.3,The The,Molodoy,Radiation,Artery etc..)and this inspired me to form a band the first one was" Dungy Dingo & the Dole que Waller's"(me,Richard Cutts & Phill Walker RIP) a punk band just for fun (we were crap) I then moved on to Short Circuit (gettin better but still crap) with me on rythmn gtr Richard Anderson on Lead ,Becky on bass(RIP) Mark Daley on bass,Daisy on vocal's & Mick Miller on drum's we did a handful of gig's supporting band's like "The Negative's£ the "StuntKite's" & were once voted the best live band in Sheffield for our drunken exploit's (NMX a local fanzine by Martin Russian of "They must be Russian's") after that started getting a bit serious & formed "TSI-TSA" (Daisy& Dingo on vocal's, Mick Hercun Gtr later toured with" The Comsat Angel's", John Mills on bass and Martin Witham on drum's) After giging and getting seriously blindo leaving "TSI-TSA" (replaced by Josie Robson)I joined Chris Shaw,Simon and Paul Cooper replacing Russ (Vision) as Singer with Mr's Beech later to be joined by Richard Anderson(Short Circuit,Respect, Vitamin Z) and the Heretic's Kay & Cheryl we did a few gigs and a number of radio session's and were compared to Orange Juice, Aztec Camara,The Farmer's Boy's etc.. we were a pop band and at that time thier were only a few pop band's around in Sheffield ("Pulp","The Pencil Stripe's","Cedar Point Ohio 1954","The Flying Alphonso Brother's","The Mirror Cracked"," Toy Shop" etc..)at the same time i was working on a project with "Sons & Lover's" Josie Robson("TSI-TSA" "Respect" Red Tape Studio's")Malcom Walamsley,Richard Hartley and various other Sheffield musician's (can't rember most of thier name's cos I was often drunk during this period of time !!) after "son's & Lovers" I Joined "Trace's of "A"" Dingo Vocals, Glen Green Gtr, Terry Hanson Kybs, Martin York bass, Simon Greaves Drums Ian ? Sax plus guest drum machines & digital things invented by Glen Green( The Origonal Boy Band) a pure pop band and why we didn't make it I'll never know we did a showcase gig at the "Hippodrome" supported by Des O'Conner's Daughter (Heaven 17 were in the audience , we supported "Kieth Harris & Orville" that was bizzare. Hippodrome Record's were intrested and invited us down for talk's but it fell through, they signed up "Edwin Star"" WAR" for his comeback, in 2003 I came out of retirement for a while and along with "David James AKA Emmanual(SOUL KNIGHT'S) wrote the sound track for the succesful"Talking Dad's" Documentry & released the 22 Track CD. I've got some really good memory's of my time on the road with band's and played some decent venue"s (and some shity one"s) played the limit loads of times, the hallamshire, the leadmill, roxy"s,the hippodrome, and loads of universty gigs, and shared the stage with some decent band"s, "John Cooper Clark" Pulp" TOY SHOP "StutKite"s 'Blue Orchid's(mark e smith the fall) infra riot, The Accelorators etc.. Ive made some good friends along the way and have lost some good ones . but still the Beat gos on.Im still living in Sheffield 5 bands & 5 kids later tinering away in my little potting shed playing air guitar and reliving my youth.. I was once in a studio of the back of the Wicker recording Cuddle me close with Traces of A with this guy called Stuart and we were struggling for a middle 8 and he gave us a HA HA sample for it apparantly they'd b een there the week b efore and ask him to manage them b ut he said he was too busy!! met Sly & Robbie dunbar at the same recording session how cool is that? I used to stalk Artery (went to london as a roadie in the early day's) Cabarat Voltaire(ACID GOD'S)even got Stephn Singleton(ABC) to produce a few track's for us and nearly got Biff (Saxon ) to manage us but he was too busy in the state's I, went toPulp's signing up party! & that was bizzare sugar plum fairy ,mad dentist(Manner's who got Jarvis to show Jacko his arse.can never forgive Jarvis for kickin Magnus out of his band (he alway's fall off his drum stool) Check out www.myspace.com/tsitsamusic www.myspace.com'ikklepeople www.myspace.com/blindissues CHEERS DINGO !! ..... .. .. .. .. .. .. .................. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...........................................
