“Country Treasures” includes covers of songs made famous by George Strait, Stonewall Jackson, Jack Greene, Willie Nelson, Ricky Nelson, Josh Turner, Eagles, Vern Godsin, and Alan Jackson, along with a couple of original songs.
“It’s That Time Of Year Again” is a 14 track collection of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs with one original. It is one of the best Christmas albums you’ll ever hear.
The photos and videos you see on this page are almost all from 2005 to 2009. I took a few years hiatus from live performances so I could concentrate on songwriting and studio work. For the past couple of years I have also begun to re-appear on stage.
I work as a single or duo, with guitar and/or tracks, all the way up to an 8 to 10 piece group, at private functions or in small clubs all the way up to the big stage. You can see photos of all these variations on this page.
Please contact me through this page and Teri will take care of all the details for you.
Robert Allen writes and performs country music in all its many styles: traditional, new, bluegrass, honky tonk, rockabilly, alternative, and blues. It all started in New London, CT at age 7 singing “Happy Trails To You” in the school talent show.
By the time he was 16 he and his best buddies had formed East Hampton, CT’s proverbial high school band. As ‘The Specials’ they played at all the local school dances and even persuaded the movie theater owner to let them play between matinees on the weekend. That was definitely a first in their town!
Then came a stint in the U.S. Navy and Robert formed ‘The Signalmen’. The ship’s captain liked the band so well he arranged for them to perform before officials and dignitaries in Italy, Subic Bay, Hong Kong, China, Spain, Africa and Hawaii.
After the Navy Robert spent several years on Staten Island performing with ‘The Country Echoes’
The call of Nashville came next. While there he formed and fronted ‘Red Hot Ricochet Band’ and ‘Connection”. The bands played country, top 40, southern rock, oldies and threw in some blues. Between the last two bands, Robert spent a few years fronting for Grand Ole Opry artist Stonewall Jackson. He performed at all the major (and some not so major) clubs in and around Nashville and did demo work at several well-known studios. And he was on the road a lot; all over the country in all types of venues.
Then it was on to the Atlanta area. After performing with ‘Class Reunion’ for a while, Robert formed ‘Robert Allen & Co.’ and began playing locally. Then he went on an extended USO tour entertaining in Turkey, Italy, Greece and Spain. After returning he assisted at a recording studio doing everything from administration to demos. Robert finally took the opportunity to stay put and record some of the material he had written over the years. And he was able to help promote others! Robert co-produced, co-edited, directed, and hosted “Songwriters”, a 30 minute Atlanta area community access TV show featuring unsigned songwriters of all genres.
Now he’s back in the Nashville area making more music and loving it! He is once again working with Stonewall Jackson fronting his show and singing harmonies and playing harmonica with him. He also fronts his own group again and staffs it with Grand Ole Opry veteran players.
Robert Allen has been interested in music since the early age of seven when he performed at a school talent show in his hometown of New, London, CT.
Robert takes his music very seriously. He is a talented lead vocalist, songwriter and arranger, and is professionally proficient on rhythm guitar and harmonica. He also plays some lead guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, keyboards, and percussion instruments.
Robert has formed several outstanding bands in his career, and has done demo work at many well known recording studios. He fronted for Stonewall Jackson both on the Grand Ole Opry and on the road.
Robert Allen directed, hosted, co-produced and co-edited “Songwriters”, a 30 minute Atlanta area community access TV show featuring up and coming songwriters of all genres.
