Robert and Jenieve are full time music ministers and are affectionely known as the '' Sweethearts of Jamaica gospel music ''. Born in Brown's Town St. Ann, Robert grew up singing in is church circles in his home town ,becoming a baritone in high demand to augment the output of choirs,quartets and other vocal groups. His breakthrough came in 1987 when he topped the Jamaican Youth for Christ DISCOVERY competition as best male vocalist. From there ,he went on to join the Life Singers and Life Productions Limited in 1988. It was during this period that he met Jenieve Hibbert.
Daughter of renowned Toots Hibbert of 'TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS' ,Jenieve grew up immersed in music.Groomed by her father,she was a foundation member of the group 54-46 along with her sisters Leba and Melanie. Jenieve however,had a longing to sing gospel,and in 1987,after giving her life to the Lord, she was invited to join the Life Singers,which she did in 1988.
While members of the Life singers they completed tours of the caribbean and the United States and produced two solo albums , ''Chief Navigator '' Robert Bailey , and ''Leaning on the rock '' Jenieve Hibbert.
In 1990 they launched out into the deep, leaving Life ProductionS to create more room for growth. Over the years they have been recipients of fourteen awards namely the Jamaica Music Industry (JAMI) Foundation,the Omega awards,Jamaica Federation of Muscians(JFM),and the MAJA awards. While on tour in Canada mid 1993, God took them higher as these two friends became one Robert and Jenieve Bailey. What now stands as R & J Ministry. Together they have produced over twenty five gospel concerts, eight album, with the promise of much more to come. Seven years and many local and overseas tours later the couple added two gems to the family,in the form of Joel and Renaldo Bailey. Despite the hectic family life these full time gospel music ministers are commited to spreading the gospel through the potent melodies of gospel music. Thiers is a ministry destined to change lives all over the world.
