Robert Ernst kommt 1990 zur elektronischen Tanzmusik. Das Fieber hatte ihn gepackt. Nach ersten Experimenten produziert er 1994 zusammen mit Gerald Lindhorst und Rene von der Waar das erste Vinyl. Im 17. Stock des Hannoverschen Ihme Zentrums schraubt er den Track: „ R. E. Flexure“, der mit seinem blubbernden Acidlines über Monate sein Unwesen bei Strobo und Nebel im Keller des „Musiktheaters BAD“ treiben sollte. Das Projekt:“17. Floor Productions“ war geboren.
Obwohl ohne Vertrieb in die lokalen Plattenläden getragen, sorgt die Maxi für Aufsehen.
Roberts Herz gehört nach wie vor den geraden Beats. Mit dem Projekt: „Instant Man“ unterzeichnet er 1998 einen Vertrag bei Rough Trade auf dem Sub Label Form&Function und verdient sein erstes Geld als Produzent. Das ermöglicht es ihm, ein eigenes Studio aufzubauen. Parallel dazu arbeitet er in der Studioabteilung von PPC Musik Hannover. Dort trifft er auf Andreas Bolleshon von Time Tools kennen, der Robert weiteren Einblick in die Studiotechnik und insbesondere in den Bereich Mastering vermittelt. In diesem Bereich arbeitet Robert über Time Tools als Engineer z. B.: für „Peppermint Park“ (dem Label von Mousse T) und verleiht unter anderem der „Brazilectro“ Compilation-Reihe ihren besonderen Sound.
2001 kommt es zur Veröffentlichung der Maxi : „Meditation, Spiritualism & Love“ auf Phantom Rec. – dem Label, das bei der Undercover Music Group von Commander Tom geführt wurde. Der Titel, der erstmals unter dem Namen: „rob e“ erscheint, entwickelt sich zu einem Hit und wird unter anderem auf dem offiziellen Sampler zur Streetparade 2001 gekoppelt. Der Track heimst in der Raveline gute Kritiken ein und erfreut sich auch in der Ukraine großer Beliebtheit, wo er regelmäßig im Hintergrund der Fernsehsendung „Diesel Fashion TV“ läuft und auch auf der zugehörigen Sommer Compilation erscheint.
Nach einem Umbruch bei der Undercover Music Group arbeitet Robert als Freelancer für die Universal Music Gruppe - die Abende und Wochenenden gehören nach wie vor seiner Musik. Im Jahr 2003 erscheint auf dem Label: „Universal Prime Breaks“ die Maxi: „Feel“.
In diese Zeit fällt auch die Arbeit als Soundengineer für das Projekt P.A.R.A.D.O.X. – der Track: „The Bass“ schafft es auf Platz 13 der Deutschen Dance Charts.
Danach kommt es zu einem Bruch und Robert sortiert sein Leben komplett neu – privat und beruflich. Aber er kann es einfach nicht lassen, da die Musik sein Leben ist. 2006 eröffnet er sein Myspace- Account. Fest entschlossen, nur noch Musik zu produzieren die ihm gefällt, Trends und Modeerscheinungen sollen keine Rolle mehr spielen. Der Titel: „Eiszeit“ wird sehr gut angenommen und die Myspace-Seite wird von der Community häufig aufgerufen.
2007 schraubt er einen Remix für Miss Napalm: „Ass Kicking“. Der Remix erscheint auf dem Label Elektrolyte.
In 2007 wird Nicky Zimmer auf rob e aufmerksam.
Im Juni 2009 erscheint auf ihrem Label ODA Digital Records, mit Sitz in Frankfurt, die EP "Smile Or Die!".
