I started playing drums when I was in 9th grade. I played in numerous configurations of the same garage band in my high school years. Rich Kelly & David Dickerson were the constants in those lineups and THEY are ultimately my biggest musical influences. We thought we invented swearing in music until we heard groups like Fear & the Dead Kennedys. We did everything in our power to piss off the neighbors, family and even each other when we played. We did songs about teachers we couldn't stand and ex-girlfriends. We laughed until we just about puked. Music will never be as much fun to me as it was in those years! Thank you David & Rich!
I grew up idolizing drummers like Peter Criss, Neil Peart & Carl Palmer. My guitar influences include Ace Frehley, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Steve Howe, Gary Moore & Yngwie Malmsteen, but I can't play anything like any of them!
I have a small home studio and record whenever I get a chance. I'm putting together a CD, "Behind the Rhino", which should be available when I get off my ass at some point & finish it.
My wife, Jennifer, & I were married in 1988 and have a son named Christopher, who loves to make us laugh. Jennifer is a very talented photographer. She specializes in photographing musicians. Her work can be seen at her website: www.jenniferkearnsphotography.com or in Portsmouth Magazine, Face Magazine, The Portland Phoenix, IT Magazine or various band promo items.
