Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!

There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.

Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."

And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my 2nd horror novel SACRIFICE is now in stores everywhere, including Amazon.com! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride! Here are a couple reviews it's gotten so far:

“SACRIFICE is a full frontal assault on your senses. It is a dark, brutal, bloody and terribly frightening book. Everson went deep into some dark abyss to bring this book to the light of day.... I highly recommend SACRIFICE.”
—Famous Monsters of Filmland

“John Everson manages in SACRIFICE to dispense buckets of blood, provide edgy perversity, and walk the tenuous tightrope of horror and sex without falling: It’s rather an amazing feat.” –Hell Notes

Christmas is a Time for Magic!!

I've stepped a little outside my normal "horror writer" persona this week :-) To celebrate the season, I've created a Holiday Madness page, with links to a free Christmas short fantasy story ("Christmas, The Hard Way"), a rock 'n' roll holiday song I wrote and recorded a few years ago ("Show Me Christmas"), holiday wallpaper for your computer and more. You can hear the song and follow the link from my MySpace page, or just click the banner below. Darkest Holidays to you!

Remember as Memorial Day comes - the voices....

Of wives...who would rather have their husbands to hold

Of children...who would rather have their dad or mom at home.

Of mothers...who have buried their sons/daughters

Of fathers...whose feet their children followed

Of the men and women fighting a nightmare of their own -

one they will carry with them until the same song plays,

the same flag drapes and the same tears fall

just as they watched in pain their friends and comrades

committing what they will come to call "wrongs"

by which they lived..by which they survived...

nightmares they will carry with them throughout their lives.

It doesn't go away when the guns are laid down..

It doesn't go away when they return home...

It doesn't go away for them - why should it for you?

God Bless Our Veterans of Wars Past & Present
Remember those who have lost loved ones as much as you remember the ones who were lost and don't forget to pray for those who are out there everyday fighting for your freedom...

Waiting For October is coming!

A lot of my MySpace friends have been wondering where I've been lately and sending me lots of nice comments...and a few worried ones! Rest assured I didn't fall off the earth for the past month -- I just lost my balance for a couple weeks :-) I've been burning the candle 'til midnights lately to design a new anthology for Dark Arts Books called Waiting For October, which finally went to press this week! It features 12 stories in all -- three twisted, funny, gory, creepy and amazing stories each by four authors -- Jeff Strand, Adam Pepper, Sarah Pinborough and Jeffrey Thomas. I've also just finished updating the Dark Arts Books website with the table of contents and ordering info for Waiting for October; I hope you'll take a look and consider checking out a copy of the book! There are some stories in this collection that will haunt you for days!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a little Voodoo!!

If you're looking for a little story of adultery, voodoo and zombie curses to spice up your Valentine's Day... you might enjoy reading my story Vigilantes of Love.

May this Valentine's Day bring you all the heart you desire...even if it's a heart dripping warm blood from between your clenched fingers...

Happy New Year!!

I hope you, and your friends and family, had a fun and safe New Year's Eve...here's to a great 2007!

This is the time of year to look back at the past before moving forward, and last week, my Pop Stops newspaper column featured my picks for the Top 25 Albums of 2006. I posted that column in my MySpace blog for anyone interested in reading it who doesn't happen to live in the Chicago area and already receive The Star Newspaper! I hope you'll enjoy my survey of the past year's music scene -- maybe it will help you discover a great album you missed last year, as we begin 2007 -- Here's to a Happy Ghoul Year!

Hi Roberto!

It's Friday - and for me, for the first time in years, that means 2 straight weeks of Christmas vacation!!! I've got a stack of books to read and DVDs I want to sit down to watch with my trusty bottle of Makers Mark at my side :-)

Anyway, I just wanted to say Merry Christmas, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday, filled with all the dark dreams you can imagine. Here's to putting a stake through the heart of 2006 and pinning garlic to the breast of 2007!!

Yours in Dark Arts,

John

Christmas is a Time for Magic!!

Hi Roberto!
A few weeks ago, I posted one of my most popular short stories, "Pumpkin Head" on my web site to celebrate Halloween. It got such a great response, I thought I'd offer something new for Christmas! Recently in an interview, someone asked if I ever write fiction outside of the horror genre. The answer is...absolutely! Several of my lighter fantasy pieces appear in my Vigilantes of Love collection, including the story "Christmas, the Hard Way," which features white magic and a ghostly aunt. I originally wrote and distributed the story in a small chapbook to friends and family for the holidays several years ago before it was printed in the book.
Over the past decade, I've celebrated Christmas with a variety of similar creative projects, and I've posted some of them online for you and your friends and families to enjoy! You can read "Christmas the Hard Way," listen to a holiday song I wrote, download wallpaper for your computer AND get a special offer on buying some books if you want (and remember, they make great gifts!!!)

Just visit my John Everson Christmas page for the holiday madness - and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

October is here - my favorite month of the year!!

To celebrate, I've posted one of my most popular stories, "Pumpkin Head" on my web site for my MySpace friends. This twisted, disastrously dark story of what befalls a boy who defiles a pumpkin first appeared in Grue magazine back in 1998, and has since been reprinted three times. It will appear in a French translation next year. But you can read it here.

Take a peek...if you dare! And Happy Halloween!
