Bio
Hi folks. I have taken down my website whilst I revamp some things and so my somewhat neglected myspace page has become my central Internet home for the time being. Here’s the biography of a young man with a dream… As a musician and producer Robert Powell has worked with many diverse artists from around the world, including Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, Titos Sompa, Clothesline Revival, Kundalini Boombox, Airto Moreira, Deva Premal, Kingfish, The Venusians, Roy Rogers and Shana Morrison. Through his work with Amnesty International he has produced and performed on recordings by Peter Gabriel, John Lee Hooker, Jackson Browne and others. Current production projects include singer-songwriter Paul D Miller’s second album, as well as albums for Boy Lion, Talia Rose, February Fontaine and the second album in the Anatomix Comix children’s music series, ‘Spare Parts’. A multi-instrumentalist, Robert plays all manner of guitars including slide and pedal steel as well as a variety of other stringed and not-so-stringed instruments. Robert currently performs primarily with Kyle Alden and the Reckless Flames (featuring Scott Thunes and Howie Cort) as well as with Hologramatron (featuring Barry Cleveland, Michael Manring, Celso Alberti, Rick Walker and Amy X Newberg). As a composer Robert has scored numerous films, such as the award-winning documentaries ‘Texas Gold’ (Best Doc NYC Short Film Festival 2007), ‘Counting Sheep’ (Emmy, Best Doc, Best Cinematography 2006), ‘El Dorado’ (Cine Golden Eagle Award), ‘Forest Through The Trees’ for the Discovery Channel, the dramatic feature ‘Lady and the Tiger’ along with bassist Rob Wasserman, the ABC Saturday Night prime-time TV series ‘Early Edition’, as well as various multi-media projects including the Alladin game for Disney. Robert works primarily out of his recording studio, The Underbelly, in Marin County California. -

..Robert,

I just posted a review of Barry Cleveland's "Hologramatron" at Billy's Bunker (Music Reviews). What a great album!
I'd like to write about some of your other projects.

..Robert,

Thank you for becoming my friend. My page and website are dedicated to reviews of new music of every description. I hope you may find something you like there. The top image of every review is linked to the band, composer, or musician. Please feel free to send me an email or make a comment on a review.
There is a link to an interview with David Harrington of the Kronos String Quartet below. That's my favorite interview. The reviews on my site have been generally described as "something different."

Thanks for the add. Fantastic music! Greetings from Brazil
Freakin' awesome! You really ARE the best Other/Ambient/Americana pedal-steel guitarist in the world.
