Hendrix, McLaughlin, Zappa, Zeppelin, Beatles, King Crimson, Miles, Coltrane, Captain Beefheart, Albert Collins, Gatemouth, Thelonius Monk, Cecil Taylor, James Emery, Evan Parker, Terje Rypdal, Frisell, Herb Ellis, Barney Kessel, Tal Farlow, Big Mike(Mike Colin), B-Boys, Dali, Castaneda, H. Thompson, A.S.O. Consciousness, Seventies radio music. These are what took me different directions, although the complete list would be too long, of course, and would include anything really that I've ever heard. Or read or seen or done. Ya know.
Sounds Like
A little bit of everything, but hopefully it sounds mostly like me.
Hello friends and strangers. Short history: I was born and raised in and around the D.C. area, and started playing music during my early years with special and VERY musical friends. Endless explorations of music in dark basements in the middle of the night...Moved to Colorado right out of High School, then to LA and back and forth and to and fro and in and out...Right now I'm in a small town on the Northern California coast. After visiting from Colorado a couple of years ago, I decided to move here. The bands I was involved with in Colorado included WINDOWPANE, CACTUS MARCO, ACOUSTIFUXX, PHANTAZMORGASM, MIKE COLIN + FAMILY OF NOISE, LOUDMOUTH, SPLATTERHOUSE, MICHELLE AND BOOK OF RUNES, BASE 10, RASPUTIN, THE GOOD VIBES QUARTET, SPACE IS THE PLACE, and others too. I am now playing in a group called the JOINT CHIEFS (of Crescent City, CA), a band that does alot of improvising, jamming on riffs, and throwing in a cover tune or two when we feel it. Also doing guitar duets with my friend AL, mainly jazz. Al is a great guitarist and a joy to work with. Neither of these projects has recordings yet, but we will eventually. As for the past projects, there are quite a few. Soon I'm going to compile "best of" recordings of my work with Windowpane (heavy fusion), Good vibes Quartet (jazz and fusion), my work with Mike Colin + The Family Of Noise (experimentalrockambientpunkjazzetc), and maybe some stuff like one off recordings with various people I've worked with. Also working on a project of new stuff of my own, interspersed with recordings from my past, due out, well, we'll see when... Please stay tuned if interested...
Some music for you all to listen to. "Shimmer Shiver Shine" is a new piece, backed by sequencer. "JAM 293" is just a jam on a short loop. "Cold Fusion (Chocolate Milk)" is from "The Bad Side Of The Good Vibes Quartet" CD circa 2000, Performed by GVQ, being Rick Weingarten-vibes, Bruce Crisman-drums, Tom S.-bass, and me on guitar and composition. I like all kinds of music and hopefully this small cross section of material will show that. PLEASE ENJOY! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NEW SONGS! FINALLY GOT SOME NEW STUFF ON HERE, INCLUDING ONE WITH VOCALS. Those who know me may be SHOCKED, but the lyrics came to me one day and I figured what the hell, might as well give it a shot. It sounds OK, but I am not really a vocalist so I hope you can deal with it. Backing track is a sequencer, guitar solo is, on one track, with a live reverse echo. Also, Float On Down, which is a lullaby written when I met one of my friends little girls, has unspoken lyrics, unspoken because the person who was supposed to sing it never did, and I couldn't pull THAT one off myself, and I just needed to finish it. Maybe some day she''ll find the time to sing it...
As always, hope you enjoy...
Hey Bob, Got the cd's Awesome man, like I remember them, especially Windowpane & Cold Fusion! Quagmire is a bad ass tune, still playin with Tom Sublett? I'd like to jam with you all some day. We could come up with some really cool jazz/blues stuff. Jam on brutha... Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaater Ron.

Hola Roberto!!! Like PMC, I say thanks again for your music! I play them quite a bit as they are accesible in my very small stack of favorites! Thanks for listening to my front porch songs - colored air fun to make me laugh. Quite a contrast to the melodic soundscapes I see in your player!!! All the best - Mark
Haha, yeah I saw this show on child stars, and that made me think of that episode, so I looked up on youtube, and someone had it on there, haha! I guess I wasn't the only one that thought it was hilarious. Yeah I know you're a Chocolate Milk guy, haha. That's cool though, you jammed a little MJ. Is there any style of music that you don't play? Keep jammin and "Stay Thirsty My Friend" Johnny

I belief in artgeneering...the artist is only a medium, connected to the spirits around him-translating vibes into symbolic shapes to reinitialize the ancient wayof using language... the way of light and color... without the disguise of words, right through the passage of our eyes... to reach hearts and souls without taking the intelectual loop way... natural formulas in an unnatural world...pure and uncensored... awakening the visiual awareness, the centre of our inner universe... to let it shine in the way it has allways been before these annoying times, that keep us away from our natural mission... to stay connected with our great mother earth and her deep spirit of freedom and peace... we have to regain our nearly lost nativeness, to stop this wheel of opression and iniquity that haunts our world and our hearts...it's time for the rainbow warriors :-)
